I was reading another posts and it made me have some questions--At Jackson can you complete a significant other form? We were married but divorced--and I do have a copy of the divorce decree? So who can I talk to and do I wait til he is out of the diagnostics part? I mailed a money order but now I cant remember if I put the remitter part on it, will they give it to him? I had so many different mixed emotions when I mailed it I cant remember. I mailed it like an hour after I found out he was transfered.
Any info is appreciated.
Thanks

Jeffs,
Yes, you can file the Significant Other form at Jackson...which I believe will follow him wherever they send him. The only problem is, he had to do it himself. If I were you, I would write him and tell him to file that immediately! I know that they also have to put you on their "calling list" and if memory serves me correctly, at first they only allow 5-10 people on that list. The money order should get to him ok if you have his name and number on it. We didn't go through Jackson (Baldwin) but I believe that all is the same in GA. Joe was able to call about 3-4 weeks there (to my BIG surprise!). You might also ask Jeff who is counselor is and then call and introduce yourself...this contact has helped on a number of different occasions. Do ya'll have any kids? If you do, get them on his visiting list...it will only help getting you in without much hassel. Hope that helps some.

I Called Today And They Said You Can Mail The Following:
*up To 20 Pictures At A Time No Polaroids
*newspaper Clippings
*written Letters Any Length
*info Printed Of Off The Internet (he Said Only 4-5 Pages)
*money Orders
*no Care Packages While In Diagnostics
I Thought Someone Might Benefit From This.

ok, at jackson - no phone calls for the first 5 months. Then you get one 10 minute call a month thru the chaplain. And as far as visitors - immediate family only. If you are divorced, you don't get in. I'd keep my mouth shut about that & just try to say you are his wife & see what happens. You can get on their list as common law but you have to established yourselves as common law prior to 1997 when GA stopped recognizing it. Once he's out of diagnostics & assigned to a permanent camp, you can get on his list as a signifigant other.

Just so you know the info isn't consistent - i was told by the wardens office - 10 pages off the internet and that they are only allowed 10 pics at a time

Anyone can send mail. SOs can get phone calls once they are allowed to have them. It's just the visiting that is restricted to immediate family. Once they are out of diagnostics, then that restriction is lifted too.
