Intensive Confinement Center Lompoc
Educational Programs
We are required to take parenting, spiritual wellness, DAP (drug abuse program), speech, living skills and optional VT maintenance and culinary arts.
The classes are required for us to graduate but often are cancelled.
Work Details
Work details are assigned by our counselor and are based on if she likes you or not. I asked for a BP-8 when I first came here for a legit reason and she gave me the worst job. But they do have kitchen, janitorial orderlies, outdoor things like raking all day. We work 16 hour days, up at 5 am and lights out at10 pm.
Recreational Activities
A track to run on and pull up bars and that is all. There are no TV’s or radios.
Medical
Medical services here are not good. The P.A. is rarely there and turns people away. A usual response is “you’ll be OK”.
Visitation
No toys for the kids or play space, no vending machines.
Visiting only on Sunday
Food Services
OK all around except we only have about 3-5 minutes to stuff our face and get out.
Commissary
Ibuprofen, no food, watch, stamps (1 every 2 weeks) shampoo, soap, razors. Maybe about 10 things, that is it.
Library
No legal library. I asked to go but the counselor denied me. It says in the rulebook the FCI has one we can go to though I’ve never seen any one be allowed to go.
RDAP
Yes
Living Conditions
Open dorm, one building with no walls. 200 inmates. No talking until 8:30 pm inside or anywhere
Racial/Age make up
About ½ white and ½ Mexican. About 5 blacks and 5 Vietnamese.
Typewriters
They say they have 3. I have asked to use one and they never got back to me.
Telephones
10 telephones for 200 inmates with only 15 minutes per week
Furloughs
Never heard of one here.
Items issued by BOP
Clothing, boots and shower shoes. All used and we have to polish and iron.
Items that can be sent in
Pictures, books and shoes (we have to run 2 times a day). No magazines.
Parole Hearings
No, not that I am aware of.
Religious Groups
Only catholic mass 1 hour on Sunday
Parenting Programs
Yes. But were usually marching because class was cancelled. No child visits for this.
Marriage Workshops
No marriage workshops. Found this out tonight because my Bunkie is having problems with his marriage.
