Does anyone know how you go about getting your inmate to a prison closer to home?

I don't even know if it's possible, my man is 300 miles from home, and others are further. My guy just spoke with his counselor last week and was able to put in a request for a transfer to get a little closer, we are supposed to find out this week if he got accepted. I'm not getting my hopes up, they don't care how close or far these people are from their families. That's my suggestion, have them talk to their advisor and see if anything can be done. Good luck.

Hi Buddy! I'd have to second yanas suggestion that you talk to the counselor. I don't know how far it will get you but it's worth a shot. Iowa seems to have a perverse need to further separate families by sending inmates as far away from their loved ones as possible. Sorry I can't be more help but I will pray for you.
