So my b/f should be starting work release soon. He said if I want to come down to visit again I should wait until he starts work release because then he will be able to get a room n stuff. Are they allowed to do that while they are on work release? I have no idea how all of that stuff works if anyone could give me any info I would appreciate it and I wouldnt feel so out of the loop too!!! lol thanks!!

Yes, if your man is in work release and you are out of state, I've heard that you can rent a room for the 8hour furlough. They call to check on him during the day. The thing I'm stressing about is whether we have to be married. That would SUCK! I'm just a girlfriend, but I am two states away!!

Hope this helps.

Don't mean to burst your bubble for furlow, but yes, you have to be married or an immediate family member, mother, sister, etc. My Anthony was able to come home for 8 hour furlows and I was his approved sponsor b/c I'm his wife. Now had we not been married, then I wouldn't have been able to pick him up. Hope this helps.

Anthonysgirl is right on that you must be immediate family or spouse. They also don't just let you go for 8hrs at first...i'm not sure what they start with, it could be 2-4 and then work there way up to 8 and then to the entire weekend furlough. If you do rent a room for the 8hrs you have to give the institution the place w/ a phone number so they can contact you guys at anytime to make sure you are where you say you are going to be.

I heard that they are no longer allowed to have full day/weekend furloughs....has anyone else heard of this? Something must have happened and they made it so they can only come home for 8 hrs at the most :( Please post if you have any facts about this, thank you so much!

That's wonderful news! I wasnt sure how they were if you weren't married and wanted to be their sponsor...but now I know, thank you and congratulations, I know you are looking forward to holding him in your arms without having to look over your shoulder! :)

I know here in Florida when at work release they can only leave on ferlow with a spouse or family member that is on approved visit list and have to present drivers license and proof of insurance and then they call
