I just received a call from the justice center and my nephew was just arrested for a murder that was committed on December 4th. I'm having difficulty with this because they arrested him with no evidence on him. How can this happen?

Lisa,
I am very sorry to hear this from you! Keep strong and hope that this mess gets straightened out soon! Prayers and good thoughts going out to you and your nephew!
I am sorry, It does not seem they need cold hard evidence to convict a person any more.
Please hang in there and Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers
((hugs)) and I hope he gets a good attorney....

The reason he called me was for help with an attorney. His mother dosen't have much money and what she does get seems to go into a crack pipe. The biggest fear is that it's an election year and a white boy was killed. He's the closest to me and this is just breaking my heart. Plus, his girlfriend is 3 months pregnant right now.

This is a terrible shock to your system. I also am new to all this so I can not give too much advice but I just want to let you know that right now I understand the feeling of not knowing what to do. I guess once they are in custody it is almost out of our hands other than making the decision to get a lawyer or use a public defender. I think my advice is now you have to take baby steps a day at a time to try to figure out what has happened. Try to gather the facts what they have OR don't have and breath.........keep asking here what to do next LOL thats what I am doing although everyday I am confused as to what to do next it is slowly coming together.

my nephew was convicted of murder in tennessee. we did not have money for a good lawyer had to go for p.d. he is doing 25 years of a cop-out plead. he was 15 when he was arrested and 16 when sent 2 prison.he just turn 17 a week ago. so if you can please get the best lawyer you can find. if i could i would work all my life for a good lawyer just 2 have him on the streets.i know how you feel because he was young and nothing to say he done it. police just kept on him till he signed confession.tried to tell lawyer but he had so many cases he did not listen. so good luck to you and your nephew and god bless

He copped a plea and got life plus 50 years. It dosen't seem like he got the best deal out there and the cops got to close the books on another one.

WOW. THIS IS A SAD SITUATION. SOMEONE MAY HAVE USED HIS NAME AS A SUSPECT SO THE AUTHORITIES ARRESTED HIM.
I PRAY THAT EVERYTHING WORKS OUT FOR YOUR NEPHEW
