View Full Version : Visitation at Lewis/Buckley Unit
Here4you4ever 02-21-2004, 08:03 AM Hi, if anyone has visited here, can you give me some information? Specifically I am wondering if it is on a "walk in" basis or if you have to make an appointment ahead of time? At the other place I had to make an appointment. If it is "walk in", what happens if I sign up and then someone else shows up to visit, are they allowed in also? I don't want to share my visits!
Also, do they do the visits in 3 hour increments? For instance, does everyone enter at 8 and then everyone leaves at 11? I'm just trying to figure out how it works. I may go visit for the first time next weekend. Thanks in advance for anyone who can help!
az-tears 02-21-2004, 09:54 AM Hi Teach.
I'll try and help- you must be on there visitation list, you can get there around 8am fill out visit slip hand it to the guard behide the glass window with your ID wait until they call your name. No brown, blue denim, cross necklace. one pair of earrings, one wedding ring, visits last until 2:30pm unless its a food visit every 3 months you only get 2 hours to visit because its so crowded you wait longer to get in then you can visit- last week waited 2 hours to get in(crazy)!!!
I am not sure if they get another visitor what they do maybe split visit in half 3and 3 ? hope it helps alittle.
Here4you4ever 02-21-2004, 10:15 AM Oh - are the visits outside or in a room? Also, can I bring a clear tiny purse to put my key, change, and driver's license in?
az-tears 02-21-2004, 01:01 PM inside you can go outside to smoke. yes to the rest !your getting to be a pro at this. But its bad when the CO's know you by your first name when you go to visit (lol)
Here4you4ever 02-21-2004, 02:02 PM You think it's funny when the COs know you by your first name? Listen to this - I went to Madison every single week for a year, and would you believe some of the homeless guys knew me! One time one of them walked (staggered) up to me and said, "You wore that last week"! He was right! LOL!

Cherry 02-23-2004, 02:56 PM I'm headed to Lewis (for the first time) this weekend and I think I have a pretty good handle on the visiting rules (thanks to all of you!), but I have a question. All my previous visits were in Washington state, and here they had to take off your jewelry and your shoes. Then you cleared the metal detector and the pat search and then you got your shoes and jewelry back. Is that how it works at Lewis, too? I just want to make sure you get to take off your shoes, because I doubt my boots will clear the metal detector. Can anyone answer that?
