Someone asked in another post and I thought I'd start a new one for info on this location.

I don't have any personal information but I thought I'd share a "prisoner comment" out of a book I purchased.

The title is "The U.S. Federal Prison System" by Mary Bosworth.($70.00)

Prisoner Comment:
THis is a new prison. It opened in 2000. It has the best staff I have been around. They listen to what you have to say, plus they try their best to get back to you with an answer. However, Victorville Camp is nothing but a place to warehouse Americans. The housing is cement floors, warehouse, tin roof, iron beams, no ceiling and its always cold. There are 2 people to a room which are small and clean. Only the outside cubes have windows, its like living in a horse stall with five foot walls and a four foot doorway. Absolutely NO privacy. We are forced to live in continuous flourescent lighting. ....pretty much covers it.....besides she says there is a style room for hair and a laundry room.

Hope this helps.

My wife just finished 9 months in the camp. It's not bad except there is not much to do and the landscaping is just plain desert. If any one has any questions feel free to pm me.

It looks as though my mom will be headed there the last part of August. If anyone wants information after that, let me know and I'll see what I can do. There is also a person I correspond with and her mother is currently in Victorville. She might be able to offer some more information if someone needs it.

We ordered a packet about Victorville from the Freedom of Information Act which has mostly just the basics but at least it's something to start with. Apparently one of the worst parts about this camp (other than total lack of scenery) is that there is a men's medium security facility there too. This means the women's camp has fences and is under closer security because of the men being so close.

If anyone else has any other information they would like to contribute, I'd still be happy to hear about it. In my mom's case, the more information about guards, other inmates, visitation, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Well my mom has now been in Victorville for 2 months. She's teaching GED courses and doing well, given the circumstances. If anyone has any quesitons about Victorville, please don't hesitate to ask. You can PM me or post a question here.

Lots of women from Wyoming, Colorado, Montana, etc go there if there weren't drug issues. I have some commissary info, info. regarding the prison facilities, life inside, whatever you might wonder. Just here to help those who found the whole system as frustrating as our family did!

i heard that victorville fpc is part of the pilot program for early release of elderly inmates as mentioned in the Second Chance Act (passed by the Prez earlier this month). does anyone know about this?

Would appreciate any information whatsoever. Thanks!
