Hello:

I am brand new to this. My younger brother has recently been sent to The Franklin Correctional Facility in Malone, upstate New York. I don't know where to begin.

How often can I visit?
When I visit, how long can I stay with him?
What are the conditions of this facility?
Are there specific rules for visitation that I need to know?

Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

A Big Sister.

Hi,

Since you had some specific visitation questions for Franklin, I have moved this thread to the New York forum on PTO so your post will have the opportunity to get more specific responses and the best answers to your questions, and won’t get lost in the busy Visitation forum... I’ve found they often get more and better answers there, AND the information will be here to help others in the future, too. :)

You also might want to thumb thru the New York forum to see if some of your questions have already been answered in the past... the direct link to the forum is here:

Hope you find the info you're looking for and good luck! :)

i am from here--but have never had to deal with that facility. usually (in all the facilities i have been to--about 7) the visiting hours are 9am-3pm...mediums only are on weekends and it goes by the inmate's last name...some letters saturday...others sunday--get it?! :) in maximums, visits are everyday, sun-sat...9-3. main rules:i think in any facility. clothes can't be too tight, too low etc.... but every facility is DIFFERENT! so, call first would be the best advice. good luck and welcome!

call call call ALWAYS call the facility. Every one has their own rules, I've been there and if I remember correctly, Visits are only weekends (it's a medium) you can visit there both days. Sundays are usually less crowded. and depending if he's in general population, or if he's in the box, or keeplock, he might have restricted visits (only 1 a week). Always be carefull what you wear. Visits are from 9am-3pm.
You can go to: www.docs.state.ny.us Thats a listing of ALL NY facilities, address, phone #s, even driving directions.
ANd don't forget your ID!

My husband just found out today that he is moving to Franklin. I live all the way in Maryland so any advice and information about this facility would be welcomed.
