I just wanted to post on How much I hate the Law of Mandatory Drug Sentancing. I think it is the worst law that was ever invented and I hope something is done soon to change it!!!!

I dont blame you one bit for wanting to get that off your chest, there are a lot of people that agree with you.

I totally agree with you..They had the option of prison or rehab..and the DA said we will not settle for anything less than state time..How does that make sense? Stick a DA in prison for drugs and see how he likes it..

The sad thing in all of this is a lot of DA are in the drug scene also and so are the judges any way they were in the town we are from. How can they sit there and judge someone else for what they themselves are doing. I can not understand that.
Judges who are putting more on someone that is educated than someone who is raised in poverty should not be on the bench. how do we change all of this? This is like putting all the boot leggers in prison. My grandfather was one of the bootleggers years ago that went to prison.
I needed to get that off of my chest. We need change.

and the kennedy's made a million....go figure. anyway, there is an organization called F.A.M.M. it stands for families against minimum mandatories. there might be a chapter that meets in your area. they have a web site.

The only thing that can be said (and it says it all) is that mandatory minimums are neither. Unless everyone is kept to the same standard, meaning prosecutors can't depart from the mandatory minimums, they will ALWAYS use "cooperation" agreements for bought and paid for perjured testimony:blah: . It's just a fact of life that is woven into the darkest part of our judicial system. The drug war and Patriot Act are examples of this witch hunt.

Isn't it amazing how quickly the NYS Legislators can consider the new medical marijuana legislation and do nothing about the mandatory drug sentencing laws ? Could it be that our holier than thou elected officials see this as a benefit to their own well being and therefore act on this legislation ? What hipocrites !!!!
