View Full Version : Susan Martin from Ohio
Susan Martin 01-20-2002, 01:38 PM Hello....... My name is Susan and I'm in love with Tim, a man doing a 7-15 year sentence in Ohio DRC with almost 10 yrs. down 5 to go. We have had over a year and a half together in this journey so far. He has about as much chance at parole as a snowball on a hot July sidewalk. I got involved with correspondance with prisoners back in April 99, 9 months after the death of my husband of almost 19 years (he had emotional problems and hanged himself). Like most people I had no knowledge of the prison system and thank God I didn't learn by being sucked into it like most people learn of it. I've found little compassion for those in prison and a general attitude is that they deserve to rot in prison not have free cable TV, medical, air conditioning and things everyone else has to work for. There's a great misconception out there. Back to me. I'll soon be 51 years old and April will be a year since my heart attack and 4 by-pass surgery. Boy now that will change your life! I've lost 60 lb and trying to find some kind of normal in this mess. I'm also disabled with arthritis and also learned I have diabetes a month before the heart attack. Thank God I wasn't in prison or I would have a very short life expectancy. I pray my man (soon to be 46) can hold onto his health until he gets out because mediacal treatmen in prison is a joke. You get me started and I can go on for hours so I better put a sock in it LOL.......I'm glad to be here in this group!
:)
Fed-X 01-20-2002, 02:24 PM Welcome aboard and we are glad you found us! Oh! And please feel free to talk for hours if you like! :D That is what PTO is for..
I see you uploaded a picture for all to see! I was starting to wonder if I had mistakenly turned that feature off. I welcome everyone to upload pictures of their loved ones etc. I find it nice to have a face to go with the name..
Hope to see you around!
Take Care,
David
Jasmine 01-20-2002, 09:09 PM Hi Susan! Wow! You've sure had your share and then some as far as health problems. My mom is also diabetic and had 5 bypass surgery. The diabetes makes recovery all that much harder. Best of luck to both of you!!
kintml2u 02-02-2002, 06:02 AM Susan,
A late welcome but better late then never huh?! Welcome to the group. I hope your health is alittle better now. You look great for your age! It;'s a shame that people hold those thoughts, thinking the should be left to rot! Sure they knew the outcome that could happen if they did the things they did, but don't we all do stuff that the system doesn't think we should? They may be getting everything for free but then think of all the money the system is making! It is an industry! I hope to hear more from you.
dkr55 10-03-2003, 02:53 PM hi i just wanted to say i think this is a great site. i am 47,divorced from a very long and abusive marriage of 32 years.in 99 i was diagnosed with crippling arthritis,it took awhile for them to figure out what was wrong with me and by the time they did i couldnt move anything but my head, after about six months my husband(now ex) decided he was ashamed to have a wife that was disabled so in his plight of self destruction he got on cocaine and got a woman 10 years younger that could walk,me i was devasted,i had a brother in law in prison and we corresponded he gave out my name and address and inmates began writing to me,all the while i was making a comeback. mike started writing to me about two years ago and i guess it was love at frist sight for both of us cause we have been hard at it since. i walk again-not perfectly-and hurts like you wouldnt beleive,i take seven different meds four times a day and once a week i take a medicine that is for cancer and severe arthritis patients, equal to chemo same side effects,i get to do this til it shuts down my liver or kidneys or hopefully they find a cure, but mike says hey we will focus on sit down things. i even bought him a tent,2-air mattresses,2-sleeping bags-2-lawn chairs for his b-day in aug. sent him a picture and told him when he gets out in june were camping.like a kid in a candy shop.he has no one his family disowned him in a dispute about money. when we met he had not had contact with anyone for two years. he is in the icaan program at branchville.thats training dogs for adolescent children with handicaps. lexi is his labarador or baby # 2,i am baby # 1. one thing i would like to say is i write to inmates all over the world. helps fill in the time i am doing, helps the inmates and i made quite a few friends,my guy knows and says hey thats fine but..... no smell good letters and no nudy pics.if they want that let em find their own baby. just a thought.thanx for listening

Susan Martin 10-03-2003, 06:39 PM thanks all...... I had forgotten all about this post.... I've gained back some of the weight , sigh...... but there's also some good news. Tim had a Lane hearing and he is getting out "on or after Nov. 17, 2003" so we're hoping to have our first real Thanksgiving together this year.
There's still no word on if I'm approved for him to parole to but next week I'm going to contact the parole office and ask about it. This is still one step at a time. Anyway it goes Tim's ready to get out! I'm ready too.....
That's awesome that he's getting out! Congrats!!!! I hope they approve you....
Deb
