I live in the UK. I have a penpal in Florida whom I've been writing to for about five years and was wondering why it is American prisoners are not allowed to receive audio tapes of music from their correspondents. Inmates over here are allowed to own a tape player and have up to I think thirty tapes. I'm not sure what the situation is with regard to CD's. My friend in Liberty C I is only allowed a radio. I'd like to know what government departments in the States I could write to, to try and change this. Can anyone suggest any addresses?

Although some other states do allow audio tapes, Florida does not because the mechanism that makes the tape play/rewind etc. can be taken out and used to make a motor for a tattoo gun. Although there are obviously other ways to make them since tattooing happens daily, that is the reason.
