VICKTORIA 02-15-2004, 10:17 AM I visited yesterday and I asked if all the yards were 12:30 to 3:00 on Sunday and the CO told me it just depends what yard. I know A yard is full day visit.
It took me 2 hours to process yesterday. I got there at 10 am and was visitor #161 and finally got processed at 12. I had to wait for a table to open up. They were booting people out left and right. One person family drove for 4 hours and only got a 1 hour visit. I did pass the word about 877A.
begonia 02-15-2004, 11:32 AM well my husband is in A yard so that makes me very happy, cuz he works saturdays and its hard for him to get off a day, so sunday is our only day plus I have 5 hour drive and I have to have someone come with me to take care of our daughter while I visit, he is not able to have visits from a minor, which is totally wrong its his own daughter . His offense had nothing to do with her, not even close ! very happy to hear that he can have a full day to visit.

ROCKYSLILGIRL 04-07-2004, 02:20 PM The Waiting Sometimes Vary From 1 Hour To 2 To Get In They Do Sometimes Cut The Visit Short If It Gets Crowded. And Yes Im Talking About Substance Abuse Treatment Facility. They Are Strict If You Dont Mind Me Asking Are You Visiting A Southerner Or Do You Know His Classification There. The Reason Why Im Asking Is Because My Man Is A Southerner And They Are In Lockdown Right Now. What Yard Is He In?
kreepsgirl 04-07-2004, 04:49 PM I did see a girl this past weekend get in with a pair of light blue denim jeans. Hmmmm, whats up with that? New people in the processing center.
ROCKYSLILGIRL 04-07-2004, 05:06 PM hey thats weird huh girl because the guard that is there the one that opens the first and second gate has to distinguish the prisoners from the people and thats why the y dont let us wear those colors ****en a$$hole$ and theyre always messing with us
crstdrvn 04-07-2004, 07:38 PM I visit at CSATF. How long you wait to get in depends on a number of factors....like the day, the CO's, the yard. For me, it is usually about an hour from the time I sign in (8:00 am) until he is walking through the door of the visiting room. I get there about 7:50 am and I am usually 1st or 2nd in line. But I see that some yards have 10 or 20 people in line at 7:50. So you need to find out what yard.
Best to wear black...
and no sleeveless, no low neck, no see-through, no lightweight t-shirt material.
I wore a white hanes t-shirt with a black jacket over it last time, and they made me go change my top because the shirt was supposedly not thick enough and you could barely see the outline of my bra strap---like any white shirt (and I'm an old white haired grandma visiting my son and not the least interested in being sexy or flashing my boobs!) but they were real butts about it. The jacket over it did not matter.
No flip-flop shoes, must have back straps on your shoes so you can run without running out of them.
No underwires, minimum jewelry, no belly rings, toe rings, tongue rings.
No denim, no spandex, no metal on your clothes (even rivets or buttons set off the metal detector and then you change clothes or you cut the metal off)
No logos on t-shirts. No sports sets, no sweats. No panty line on your pants. If you wear a dress, they actually want to see the slip. And be sure it is below the knee.
I notice most everyone wears not tight black pants to be safe with some kind of print top. I always bring a change of clothes and leave them in the car because you never know the mood of the CO's and sometimes they can be difficult over the very thing they never had trouble with the day before or the week before.
You can bring a small clear purse with $30 in change or $1 bills, your ID and one key with no key ring. Oh, and up to 10 regular sized snapshots. (Lots of people use a zip-lock if you can't find a clear purse.)
I'd be hard pressed to give you directions from Oakland, sorry. If you are coming down 99, then I can tell you the easiest way to get there. Let me know.
Once you do get there, it is easy. There are signs when you drive in the parking lot to point you to the visiting building for whatever yard your man is on.
You go in and sign a big visiting book and they give you a paper to fill out. (At any point from here on out, they can tell you to change your clothes.)
You give the filled out paper back to them with your ID.
Then you wait.
Finally they call your name, you take off your shoes, belt, jewelry, and put them in a box for the CO to examine and you walk through the metal detector.
Once you are through, you get your stuff to put back on, they stamp your hand, and give you a pass.
Then you go out the other door into the prison itself through a sally port.
You follow the yellow brick road to the appropriate visiting room (literally, stay on a path between 2 yellow lines to the visiting building for that yard.)
When you get in the visiting room, you give the CO's your pass and ID and they tell you where to sit.
Then you sit and wait.
Your honey comes down eventually and visits with you for 6 whole hours if you don't get your visit cut short.
At the end of visiting, the CO's give you back your pass and your ID and you follow the yellow brick road back out and do it all again except you don't have to take off your shoes, etc. this time.
Don't be anxious. It is actually pretty okay once you get in and there will be others visiting that will show you the ropes. Just find a kind face and whisper that it is your first time. :)
Enjoy!

ROCKYSLILGIRL 04-08-2004, 04:09 PM Well I Dont Think That Clasification Means A Lot I Was Asking You Because My Man Is On C Yard And The Southerners Are Almost Always On Lockdown But Since Your Man Is On B Yard I Dont Know
crstdrvn 04-08-2004, 11:21 PM So then do u know what B is? I visited him at county before.. but that was a lot less drama... so do they let u wear colors like pinks and pastels if they are not transperant? umm... do they triip off of short sleves? can i wear a tshirt with a saying on it? damn i feel like i gotta go shopping to have plain clothes to wear to visit him... well let me knw any other pointers and thanx again to those who help...
Yep, you can wear pinks and pastels, just not sheer stuff. They do trip on short-short sleeves. It doesn't have to be long sleeves, but if it is a cap sleeve, they won't let you in. It needs to be like a normal t-shirt or blouse type sleeve that goes about halfway down your upper arm...kind of halfaway bewtween your shoulder and your elbow. They say no sayings on t-shirts. I've seen them turn people away for having sayings on their t-shirts.
Yep, we all had to go shopping to be able to wear something to visit..even this old grandma. It sucks. Welcome to the wondrful world of the CDC. Grrrr....
Hey, be sure you bring 2 sets of clothes just in case, cuz there are no stores in Corcoran or anywhere near.
