 When you write a letter to the board of Pardons and Paroles, does it show as a "contact" on their website? :hmm:

On the website it says that any contact with the parole board is noted, but I have written several times and my contact has not been noted. I thin k they only put up the contacts when someone was the victim of a parolle's crime. When I read some of them that's how it seemed, but I don't kow for sure.

I have written to the Parole Board twice, once in September and once in January, and my name still is not on the contact registry. From the way I understand it, if the VICTIM of a crime writes to the parole board, that contact is kept confidential.
I am trying to get more information on how to contact the parole board, to get results or even an acknowledgement that I had written/contacted. Any info I get I will share with everyone here. Thanks
Becky

They say that every letter goes in the inmate's file. Lots of people say not every letter gets noted on the site. Fairness to Families is working on a campaign to get more parole information de-classified. Generally, my understanding is that they are most interested in correspondence relating to input relating to release plans such as residence & jobs.

How do you get to the contact registry? There have been approx. 900 letters sent to the parole board for my son. I would like to see if anything is being noted. Thanks so much for your help.

Barbara,
Go to the Pardons and Paroles website www.pap.state.ga.us
Click on "Contact Registry" and then click on "View all contacts" There is also a search function that you can choose, and you can search by inmate name, or EF number or contact name.
I sure hope this helps, let me know if there is anything I can to do help.
Take Care,
Becky

About 100 letters have been sent in on my husband's bahalf and NONE are noted. The only conatcts noted are the visits from his mother and aunt. SO I really don't know if the letters are ever even read. It si anybody's guess until we can get them to "declassify" certain info.

I just check and it says not contacts found. Now I am really annoyed! Out of 900 letters sent and several from the victims, I would think that it would show something. This is crazy! People are taking the time to write the letters and spending money on the stamps to send them and nothing is even being recorded. I wish there was something that we could do about it. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. I am now on a misson!

How long have people been writing on your sons' behalf? I called the Board a couple of times last fall, and ONE TIME, I spoke to a lady there who was actually helpful and she told me that sometimes it takes weeks or months for names to be posted to the contact registry, simply because the Board receives such a huge amount of mail every single day. I am now wondering if we sent letters via certified mail, would that make a difference, at least we would know if our letters were even received. Certified mail is a little expensive, but maybe it would make a teeny, tiny difference. Any thoughts on this? I'm on a mission too!!!!

The only contacts listed on the PAP website are physical visits at the Tuesday morning open house, and attorney contacts. The letters being sent to the PAP board will not be listed, as you can imagine how many letters the board gets everyday. One of the examiners I talked to told me they receive thousands of letters a day. I would suggest, on the advice of MY attorney, that if you want letters to go to the PAP board, you have folks send them to you, or some other family/friend/ representative, make a photo copy of everything you send them, and submit the letters in bulk a couple times a year. If you send forty letters at once, it gets a bit more attention than forty spread out one at a time. Good luck, hope this idea helps..

Thank you for your response. What is the Tuesday morning open house? I have been sending out 15-30 letters at a time. We have bombarded them with letters. I have a sinking feeling that no matter what we do or how much we spend on our attorney (although I think he great) that all our work is going to be in vain. Georgia is a bad bad place and I feel that most of the people in power were nerds in school using their power to replace their low self esteem. Once they get their hands on our loved ones, we will never get them back.

when you go to the ppboard site the only contacts that show are the ones where a person visits the parole board on someones behalf.the letters go into the inmates file

I have sent letters but they do not show up BUT the ones from his lawyer does. It makes me think they just tossed mine, I Know from experience to get results you have to go in person and talk to a hearing examiner I think the the lord blessed me the day I went b/c I got one that told me things straight and every time Ive had a problem or a question he has always been able to help he had even said to give him 2 wks. to look at some things then he would call me I asked him if he needed my # he said he would have it in the file I left that day thinking do myself yeah right just another run around. But not even 2 wks. & he called much to my surprise. I don't know if you can ask for a examiner by name or not but if anyone would like to try you can PM me and I'll tell you his name. During this process I have kept a list with every ones name and contact # @ Parole Board & D.O.C. that have been helpful & or polite. At first I did it just so I could go back & send a thank-you note to them then I realized that the info might help some else, I also have a naughty list I'm saving that for later though. And it must have worked b/c at 7:00 a.m. July 31,2009 my son will be home. :wow:"firewks: :grouphug: :yay:
