Spokane firm to make inmate-learning videos
Educational Service District 101 in Spokane has received a $300,000 grant to
produce educational programming for the U.S. Department of Justice.ESD 101
was selected in a national competition to produce satellite- and
Internet-based video programs for the department's National Institute of
Corrections.A producer of televised distance learning programs for the past
17 years, ESD 101 expanded its network in 1999 to include correctional
education. Specialized programs are offered to nearly 500 correctional
institutions in 46 states.This is the second grant awarded by the Justice
Department to ESD 101, which also offers distance learning programs in
foreign languages and science for K-12 schools.
