In case you have not noticed, there is a new Sub Forum at the top of the Texas threads. Over the next few weeks, I will be going through Texas, wading through posts as they relate to PAROLE! I want to move all previous threads that have ANYTHING to do with parole to one area. We are hoping this will make it easier for those who come behind us to drill in specifically on instant information that will help them. My plans are to also have a couple of stickies at the top with:

1) Resource Thread (phone numbers/links etc)
2) FAQ (frequently asked questions) section

You guys have SO much information, and I know we can help others through this process!

I'm still learning the ropes on moving threads etc.; bare with me, there's a LOT to read through. (though, so far, it has been fun, like walking down memory lane!)

My focus at PTO is ever-constant....you guys holler if I can help in anyway!!

Kath, I'm putting links on (which includes the parole eligibiblity chart from above) on to keep you from having to look it up; edit and repost them in whatever way you think's best.

Actually, I would suggest that those truly interested in trying to put useful materials together would be well-served to look at all of what is contained on the CJPC site. There are a lot of good studies that have been done over the past decade, and in some instances, a five or six year old study may be directly applicable to someone's situation and may be the most recent information. The CJPC was an invaluable resource that was done away with in a line-item veto...never mind that the State spent more in each special session than the CJPC cost annually.

Thanks Kath, for all the work you do and the information that you provide. I am so glad that my friend told me about PTO. It was so wonderful to see that I am not alone in this. My husband and the guys in there with him appreciate anything that I send them regarding parole, because they don't have the resources or knowledge that are available here.

Excellent idea! Here is the link:

With the line-item veto...wonder how long the web page will be up?

For those who have not reviewed this site, historical reports/statistics are available here on TDCJ.

Kathy, the idea has been discussed about another agency eventually mirroring the documents. I'm guessing that the website will be up for a while since it really isn't costing them anything for upkeep. I have actually downloaded some to the hard drive, and at some point will probably stick them all onto a zip disk (I've just been too lazy to put that computer back on the network).

I hadn't heard that, but I heard last summer rumors/plans for the agency to pick up funding elsewhere and continue their work. I hope they do....the information they provide is so valuable!

I hadn't heard that,

You won't find the discussion in any public records ;) It is just one of the many tidbits that I acquire through maintenance of my contacts and discussions over lunch...

Hey guys, I'm still moving threads to this forum as they relate to parole, and you may notice that a number of thread titles have been changed. This will help others who come here to find exactly what they are looking for, and it also defines searches as people access these topics on yahoo or google. If you see something I've changed, on your thread or you have a better title, let me know!
