LIVINGSTON, TX (KTRK) -- Five inmates at a prison in Livingston reportedly tried to escape Friday night and three of them ended up shot.
It happened at around 9pm at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Polunsky Unit (http://www.tdcj.state.tx.us/stat/unitdirectory/tl.htm). Prison officials tell us the five inmates were returning to their housing area from a church service when they tried to make a run for it. They got over an interior fence and were attempting to scale a fence along the prison perimeter.
Prison personnel began firing at the inmates, hitting three of them. All five inmates were captured.
The three who were shot were taken to an area hospital for treatment. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

Is is understandable that I'm angry at them? I mean, who attempts to break out of a prison? Especially a max security unit? Especially by running?
Thanks to those morons there are no visits (of course) this weekend and probably a good sized lockdown for a while.
Thanks, idiots!!!

Prison keeps some odd hours. Breakfast served at 3am, church lets out at 9pm Friday night (I doubt they are Jews attending Sabbath services), etc. I don't question the schedule anymore ...

My husband told me Thursday that they were getting ready for their yearly 2 week lockdown. I wonder how this will impact that.

They have semi-annual lock-downs and it is never determined how long they last. Sometimes a week, sometimes longer. They just had one in fall. There were rumors of another one coming on for several weeks now.

Yall have to think, these men are all serving a life sentence!! They could care less about everyone else that will get out,so yea they would try to escape!! When you think about it, they are going to die in jail, what can the system possibly do to them? Execute them?? They cant give them anymore time than they already have..It's just sad that they messed it up for everyone else..if u had life in prison would u try to escape?? just wondering...that was their breath of fresh air..lol

They didn't care about anyone else BEFORE they went in. One of them was under investigation in the death of 30 people. Another shot a police officer in the back four times. I'm pretty sure they weren't planning on going for Starbucks ... And I feel no compassion for them. Sure they can't get any more time, but until now they were in Gen Pop, now they will be in Ad Seg for a good long while. Made their own lives more miserable ...

Just FYI Ladies & Gentlemen - I called the unit today and spoke with the Warden's Secretary; they of course are still on lockdown but we will be having visits this weekend.

From the letter I got from my fiance they will probably be on a 2 week shakedown.
