i HAVE A PROBELM - DUE TO THE CUTBACKS IN VISITING MY FRIEND IS UNABLE TO HAVE VISITS ON SATURDAYS DUE TO HIS WORK SCHEDULE , SUNDAYS MAKE IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO COME BECAUSE I WORK . HE CALLED ME TODAY SAID HE TALKED TO HIS BOSS AND HIS BOSS SAID HE COULD HAVE SATURDAYS BUT HE'D HAVE TO WORK ON ONE OF HIS DAYS OFF THAT HE ORGINALLY HAS . WELL MY FRIEND OK GO AHEAD AND COME . WELL BECAUSE I GET A RIDE FROM SOMEONE I THOUGHT I SHOULD CHECK IF IT GOTR PUT IN THE COMPUTER WHICH IT DIDNT . THEN TO TOP IT OFF THE LADY SAID OH HE CANT DO THAT - THE INMATE HAS TO REQUEST TIME OFF AND THAT IT CAN ONLY BE FOR INFREQUENT VISITS ( SO EVERY 6 MONTHS) AND IT HAS TO BE FOR A PERSON WHO IS COMING FROM 250 + . SO IN A NUTSHELL I AM STILL GOING TO SEE HIM SUNDAY I MANAGED A DAY OFF SO WOULD I NEED TO TELL HIM HIS BOSS NEEDS TO SWITCH HIS DAYS OFF IN THE COMPUTER AND THEN I WILL BE OK , CAUSE HIS BOSS IS SUPPOSEDLY COOL BUT THE THING IS IF HE WAS OK FOR HIM TO VISIT GREAT BUT IT NEEDS TO BE IN THE COMPUTER SO I AM OK . - WELL LET ME KNOW THANK YOU ;)

I read your post and I am not sure if your asking a question or just venting about a visit, but let me put in my two cents just the same and maybe it will help you understand some things.

If your referring to an inmate getting time off work for a visit, this can only be granted for a special one-time hardship basis, thus the reference to a visitor coming from a long distance to visit. The inmate will be required to use ETO (excused time off) for the time he/she is away from thier work assignment.

A work supervisor cannot get into the computer and change an inmate’s work schedule. All inmate assignments are the responsibility of the Inmate Work/Training Incentive Program (IWTIP) coordinator. This person along with the inmate pay committee dictates inmate pay slots and work assignments, and thus controls all aspects of the IWTIP. So if you’re thinking that your friend’s boss can make a change to his work schedule, it cannot happen. So don’t get your hopes up. Changing a work schedule is a long process and has to be present to the inmate pay committee of approval. The inmate pay committee meets on a semi-annual basis.

When my husband worked in visiting, his boss told him to give her a weeks notice and it was no problem. I never went onthe weekends, because we have family visits during the week, so I don't know if it would have been a problem or not, but he sure didn't think so. Maybe it was different because he worked every visting day?
