View Full Version : CCC Visits - Are they overcrowded?
MissFaust 02-09-2004, 04:21 PM Hello everyone!
I was wondering if visits at Susanville were a bit more crowded now that they cut visits on Fridays. Have any of you gone up there after Fridays were cut? I am going to go see my husband next week and I don't want them to cut my visit short due to overcrowding!
thank you!
Cynthia
Kercheck's Girl 02-09-2004, 11:14 PM I would like to know the same thing. I heard all visiting is normal as of right now. My guy is on Sierra Yard...how many yards visit in the same room? I know when I've been there in the past, people get off the van at different spots, so there must be other visiting rooms.
I hope you have a great visit! Happy Valentine's Day.
Has the visiting room at CCC been pretty crowded lately? The only prisons I have visited was Delano Community Facility and Jamestown. And that was back in 2000. I was wondering how crowded it is.
Eowyn 01-27-2006, 08:28 AM The visiting room has been full in my experience. I have NOT, however, experienced them terminating visits.
BlessedLady35 01-27-2006, 08:21 PM I went to visit at CCC on 1/15 and it was not crowded at all and it was very laid back. The CO's were very nice. Did not even do a count during the visit. i don't think very many people are going up there because of the questionable weather. My husband says that folks in there that have family from the bay area are afraid to drive. i was afraid also but I had not seen him in over 2 months and had not talked to him in over 2 weeks. So I had to ease my mind.
Scooter'sMom 01-28-2006, 12:04 PM Hello, my son is at ccc. i live in oregon and was wondering how do they deal with visitors in wheelchairs? my sons Grandmother would be comming along to visit him and i would hate to drive all that way and she not be able to see him.
BlessedLady35 01-28-2006, 02:25 PM I have seen others in wheelchairs. Call the visiting office and talk to them on Tuesday's and Thursday's 1-4pm
Eowyn 01-29-2006, 09:44 AM I visited over the past weekend again. This time not crowded at all. I think Blessed Lady is right, its the weather keeping people away. Either way you drive, you may drive through some of the white wet stuff! (SNOW!)
The visiting staff are not bothersome in my experience. Hope you get to visit soon, and enjoy.:)
BlessedLady35 01-29-2006, 12:06 PM freednfire....how was your drive? Where do you drive from? I would really like to go up to visit the weekend of 2/11....my husbands b-day. I had a little scary expierence last time. Do you have any suggestions?
Eowyn 01-29-2006, 02:51 PM Blessed, the drive was ok, did not need to break out the chains!:) I would recommend 4wd, or AWD if you can (might be worth renting if you don't have). Started snowing coming back from Chester to Mineral, not heavy, but I drove slowly and carefully around the curves.
The route I take I put in your thread asking about if people are going to drive in the winter.
BUMPER 01-29-2006, 08:55 PM I Was There January 14-15 And It Wasntbad At All, I Got In And Out Right Before The Bad Weather Hit. The Visiting Room Wasn'y Crowded And They Were Pretty Nice Actually. I Cant Drive Up There Now Cuz I Live All The Way In Orange County And It Took Me 10 Hours, My Husband Said Its Snowing There Now.
denverswife 01-29-2006, 09:18 PM There is one visiting room, as far as I know. I was never terminated, either, but there were times it was full. Please be very careful of the weather, the passes into town are awful and the snow can start at any minute this time of year. Make sure you havechains AND know how to put them on yourself, there aren't always "chain monkeys" working out there. Or else make sure that you have the $$ to stay overnight an extra day if you have to.
missy1234 01-30-2006, 07:57 PM my husband is on E-yard. Is it true that if you get there early on a visiting day and it gets full and other people want to visit, they will terminate your visit so others can go visit?
Just to let others due to weather visiting has not been full yet on that yard.
Eowyn 01-30-2006, 09:14 PM True that they terminate visits on first in, first out basis when full and need more space. However, in my experience, they also take into account distance travelled and if you have visited in the last 30 days or not.
missy1234 02-01-2006, 07:37 PM Does visiting really get that full in the summer? I know winter is not bad. However, I am sure alot of it is due to snow. The busiest I have yet to see it was at christmas.
BlessedLady35 02-01-2006, 07:42 PM Yes it can get very busy during the summer months.
