Project Description, Employment and Business Opportunities

United States Penitentiary (USP) and minimum security Federal Prison Camp (FPC) to be located in Preston County, West Virginia.


All facilities will be constructed on a site located approximately 1.25 miles northeast of Hazelton, WV off Interstate 68 In Preston County, between Morgantown, WV and Cumberland, MD. The proposed USP is currently planned to consist of a group of buildings in a "compound plan" arrangement with related site development and site utilities. The USP will have a gross building area of approximately 559,728 square feet and be designed to house approximately 960 inmates. The proposed FPC is currently planned to consist of a group of buildings in a "campus plan" arrangement with related site development and site utilities. The FPC will have a gross building area of approximately 32,292 square feet and be designed to house approximately 128 inmates.
