My husband's parole interview is coming up within the next few weeks. We did a parole packet and have multiple support letters from family and friends. He is not a violent offender and we are both hoping that the outcome is positive. My question is...What should I be doing now and after his interview. Who should I be calling and getting information from. I want to do all I possibly can to bring my husband home. Also, do they look at visitation records as an indication that the inmate has support? Any information or advice would help a lot!! :)

Hi and welcome the Texas forum.
If you haven't been there already, these links have basic info:

http://www.tdcj.state.tx.us/bpp/what_is_parole/first_page.htm
Also, click on "Search this forum" for the Texas forum and enter parole as your search term, and you'll find a wealth of info and personal experiences.
On visitations - you'll get varying responses but my gut feeling is you'll be lucky if they even take the time to read all the parole packet and support letters you sent. They have so many cases to look at per day that I can't conceive they'd take the time to review visitation records unless it's a really unusual case.
My son made parole/ms on a short-term non-violent, and we never once visited him in tdc for a lot of reasons, primarily because they kept screwing up his visitation list and he didn't want us to come on a non-contact. We had visited him 2x weekly in county, and he was only in tdc for 5 mos before his case was voted so we toughed it out.
We didn't do a parole packet or hire a lawyer or request a personal or phone interview, just concentrated on and carefully crafted the letters we sent - I relied heavily on CenTexLyn's posted advice for them. Along with our son (it's his parole, after all, he had to take an active part) we recruited a few extra-good sources for the letters, including a county da and his former employers, one of whom attested to the job he is holding for him.
If you feel like you can enhance his chances with a personal or phone interview, go for it... the links above will tell you it's discretionary for members to grant those requests, but I haven't heard anyone here say they've been turned down.
What to do after the interview ......you'll mainly do a lot of waiting, and you'll have plenty of time to send more letters. Do you know yet who's likely to vote him? In other words, where is he and will he likely stay there?

Thanks for responding...The Palestine Board will be voting on him. He is at Cole State Jail and will more than likely stay there as far as I know. I have heard that they don't always look at the Parole Packet, but I wanted to cover all of our bases. I just want to make sure that I do all that I can. :)
