is it a REQUIREMENT for the parole officers or whoever does it to call AND visit the home before releasing the inmate?

I am expecting my sweetie home in the summer and I'm not going to get too excited until I hear from someone. I was just wondering. Does anybody know?

First, I'm so glad your baby gets to come home so soon. Second, I believe that they ALWAYS do a home visit before they allow someone out. I am in Texas, so it might be different there, but it is my understanding that the probation department sends someone out to make sure that there is actually a house there, and to look at the environment that he will be living in. Here, they usually don't do that until a couple of months before the person is getting out, so it ought to be happening for you guys before too long. Again, I am answering this for Texas so I should probably have kept my mouth shut and let someone from Georgia answer this for you! Can you tell I am bored at work?

Thank you soo much! Even though you are in Texas I do believe that the same applies here in Georgia I just wanted to be sure. And thanks so much! I am glad that he is on his way home. I just decided last week to let him parole here so I don't know if he's had a chance to submit the address and stuff yet or not so I'll just be waiting patiently.. Again Thanks so much!!

And it's ok if you're bored at work, i mean i'm bored at HOME! So wuts the difference LOL. :D

It is my understanding this is something they always do, but with the way things are here, who knows? :)

Yes they do. They have to verify that you know he is going to be staing there and the visit is to see whether or not your house is in what they call a "bad area". The parole officer has already called us, but I can't tell you how long from the time he calls that he will get released. They say soon, but I don't know. I will keep you posted though so you can have an idea of the time frame.

I know that they do , do a home visit. I am already stressing over that. I don't see a problem with the area that we live in, but from what my kids tell me, our area isn't the greatest. I have along time before I even need to worry but I alway worry and thats the way it is. I would love to sell my home and move somewhere out in the country, but my husband says I am jumping the gun. Anyway, good luck and congrats. on your loved one coming home. Can't say I am not jealous, but I am happy for you.
