Ron and I learned ( I think I told ya all) that his dad is having 2 toes removed and has red streaks running up his
leg from infection in his leg. Ron has been having symptoms of diabetes. The craving of water, tired and sluggish, etc.!
We both just put it off because we thought it was the heat.
Then he tells me,"Honey, I have been this way even before it was hot." I freaked! I told him that he had better go to the HCU and get it checked out. I don't want him going there and he don't want to either, but if he has to he said he would go.
Then he find this out and when I told my mother( who has diabetes herself) she begged him to go. She says it is a very hateful disease and it took the life of my mother.

Ron has put in his request to go to the HCU but has now told me that they will not test him for it only if he has a good enough reason to be tested for it. To me that is a crack of crap and a half. If a inmate asks to be tested for something because they are afraid that they might have it because it runs in the family then by gosh why not test them? OH, I'm sorry, I forgot they are in prison and they have no rights! BU11S**T! Yes, they may or may not have done something wrong, but if your child does something wrong do you take away all his rights? NO! That might have been a poor example but still nobody and I mean NOBODY should have
all there rights taken away.

I'm sorry I am just venting about what I have been told. Not testing you because you are afraid you have diabetes! Now if they don't test him and he dies from it someone is going to pay and I mean pay BIG! But the state of IL don't care it would be just another empty bed that they could fill up.
Just another person that they could treat like crap. All of us
ILLINOIS GALS know just how they operate, don't we?

I'd better get off of this thing before I get anymore pissed than I am about this subject and if I find anything more out than I will post it.

Diabetes in prison is a pet peeve for me. One of my friends has had it for 8 years now, and they STILL only give him insulin shots for 5 days out of 7!!

I'd say, start writing letters. Start with the prison doctor, the chaplain, the warden... And get everyone in your family to also write.

Then go "higher" and to the press!

Does Ron know any other diabetics in his prison? The 4 guys in Kingston Pen got together here, and staged a hunger strike a few years back, and notified the press themselves. They got SOME changes they needed (regarding scheduling the insulin shots far enough apart to be effective by meal times etc.)

Too bad you can't smuggle out a urine sample!

Oh, also, with your letters submit MEDICAL proof of his Dad's condition, as reason for Ron's very legitimate fears.

How old is Ron?

I found out Sunday night that Ron will find out hopefully if he
has DIABETES next week. He has to go for an annual check-up next week, since he turns 34 next week. If he needs further testing or what he needs, so please pray for him ir something because I am soooooooo worried. I know what this disease does and can do, not because I am in the medical field, because both of my parents have it as well. It
scares the crap out of me. My mother's health is going down and fast! That's a different story. Anyway, please pray for him
and me as well. I just can't help but worry about him!
