Go online - under DOC and they have one you can print out and send in for visitation. It usually takes 30 days to get a response to whether your approved or not - you can call the visitation section in about 3 weeks after you send it in or they will tell your guy inside when your approved. I hope that helps.

Go there: http://www.dc.state.fl.us/oth/inmates/index.html
Under the link "Visitation" you will find everything you need. The forms, the address where to mail them, etc.

Good Luck and hopefully you'll be approved soon!

I guess I was one of the lucky ones, too. It only took 12 days. And that was damn fast considering I'm overseas (Austria/Europe).

Gosh you guys were lucky! It took four months for mine. I think it's faster now that the prisons do it instead of central visitation. Anyway good luck!

I sent my application in last October. I called my boyfriend's class. officer 4 times and he kept saying he would call back and never did! Finally I was approved last week and it's because my boyfriend got in touch with the Class. supervisor and she approved me on the spot. Apparently I was in the computer since Oct. 28th. So, I'm going to Florida in two weeks! I live in Atlantic City

I'll be staying with his mother in Miami. I spoke with her on the phone and she told me what a great time we are going to have and all that she has planned. He is in Everglades.

Hello and, welcome...I hope that you get your application printed, filled out and, you are approved as soon as possible...When you are approved enjoy your visit(s)...

My approval for visits only took nine days...I was in shock...I never knew that the FL DOC could move so fast...*laughs*

I had to do the same thing. DOC tells you up to 30 days it usually doesn't take that long because classification processes visitation applications now which is a lot faster than sending the visiting form to Tallahassee thats how it use to be done i was approved in 9days

My son was transferred from one FL facility to another. If I was approved visitor at first facility, do I have to fill out another application for new facility?

Denihall:

You DO NOT have to fill out another application form. Once you are approved by the FLDOC, even if he is transfered-- you can see your son wherever he goes. Hope this helps..

You can download one here http://www.dc.state.fl.us/oth/inmates/visit.html

TO EVERYONE: An important note about visitation forms. Read them very CAREFULLY and fill them out COMPLETELY. I see parents, siblings, spouses, denied on a daily basis because they missed a block or incorrectly filled out an application. Please do not get angry when this happens, rules have to followed. Just be very careful. The two most common mistake made: folks fail to list their drivers license or state ID NUMBER (which is a must have/no exceptions if you are over 16) and saying NO to EVER having been arrested. Say yes even if it was 25 years ago and you were 15, it will show up when your criminal history is checked. Also if any infomation does not apply to you, write N/A in the space. DO NOT LIE. If you are a step/or half sibling, say so. If you are just a friend, don't say you are a cousin. Relation doesn't matter much until you lie about it! Be sure to Print name, sign name and date them. Question number 2 on the application asks YOUR relationship to INMATE not vice versa. I haven't seen one turned down for this common mistake yet, but you never know.
Remember, be careful and double check for accuracy. Once an application is denied, they do not have to let you re-apply for 6 months. Most of the time our institution will accept a corrected information application unless it was originally denied for fraudulent info (giving wrong relationship, saying no to arrest history when one was found on file, incorrect identification/Driver license number, etc) Also, if you are considered a victim of the inmates crime, you will not be allowed to visit just by filling out an application. Call your loved ones Classification Officer and ask how you can be qualified to visit. Good luck and if I can answer any questions feel free to PM me.

Another note on visitation: I see someone mentioned institutions are doing visitation approvals now instead of CVA (Central Visitation Authority) This is correct. I haven't checked the D.O.C. website lately to see if they tell you this or not. Be sure you mail your application to the institution your loved is at (addresses are on the website) NOT to CVA. If you mail it to CVA, it gets opened, then repackaged and has to be mailed to the correct institution, which causes extra delays. It works like this: You mail your application, I would advise you to mail it to Attention Classification and not include it with a letter to your loved one, it goes to the institutional mailroom. (If it is in the envelope with a letter to your loved one it will probably got to them first, then they send it to classification) the mail room sorts the mail and 2 times per day it is delivered to departmental boxes. From here the routine can very from institution to institution. Ours works like this: I (or one of my colleagues) pick up the mail from our box 2 times per day, date stamp it and sort it. One stack for each classification officer. Any visitation applications are screened for accuracy and completeness, then given to the officer. This step saves them time and allows for faster processing but as I said I asked if I could do this "screening" to assist them and they said yes. Most institutions probably do not do this, so you have to wait for the officer to find time to review the application, enter the data into the computer and have the criminal background check run (which is destroyed after being reviewed) By me having the application pre-screened and the basic data entered into the computer all the officer has to do is review the FCIC report and approve or deny the application. Our applications are usually approved within a week of receipt. I do have a few folks that are syaing they sent in applications over a month ago and haven't heard anything, but I haven't received them....can't process what I don't have. Most applications are dated (by applicant) within a week of me receiving them. It takes us, generally less than a week to process them. So my advice, if after 2 - 3 weeks you haven't heard anything....call and ask if they received your application. If they haven't or don't know, send another one.

Do you send the apps at Attention: someone at the address of where the prison is? I think I sent it to the wrong ppl so I wanna make sure I do it right this time. I havent seen him in 9 months!!!

this seemed like the appropriate place to put this. just a note to anyone looking to get an application from the doc website. the link to download and print one up off of the site is no longer there. you can no longer get the apps online.(at least not on the state's site) i was recently looking to try to print up more apps for our family to fill out and send in, when i could not find the app on the site i emailed the webmaster. she wrote me back saying that" the information was updated two weeks ago" and highlighted the words "THE INMATE YOU WISH TO SEE MUST SEND YOU AN APPLICATION FOR VISITATION". SO THERE IT IS , ONCE AGAIN THE STATE OF FLORIDA HAS FOUND YET ONE MORE WAY TO MAKE THINGS DIFFICULT. !GO FLORIDA!
