When I Send Money To My Baby, I Usually Get A Postal Money Order And In The Pay To Part Put His Name And His Inmate Number On There Along With The Address You Write Him At To Make Sure It Gets Posted To His Account Properly. In The Sent From Part Of The Money Order Just Fill In Your Information. Keep The Stub For Your Records Just In Case Something Goes Wrong. I Usually Just Send The Money Order Along With A Letter To Him Cuz Since They Open The Mail And Check It They'll Just Get The Money Order Out And Process It And Stamp The Front Of The Envelope With The Dollar Amount Letting Him Know That He Got A Money Gift. This Is How It Is In California, If You Reallly Wanna Be Sure Check With The Milroom At The Prison You Loved One Is In. I Hope This Helps...

we are in Missouri and we must send money to MODOC in Jefferson City, no matter what Missouri prison he is in, the money order must be accompanied by a Deposit Slip filled out with inmate's name and number. my hb sent me several deposit slips and i made copies, also the easiest way is to go through JPay- look on the internet- i think they give you instructions for each state you are in- and you can do it at any WalMart. it's like $6.95 to send any amount but it will post to his account that afternoon. you fill out the blue Quick Pay at the customer service desk- company to pay is JPay, acct no is his name and doc #. JPay does the rest.

P.S. We CANNOT send any money, money orders etc to his mailing address, they will just send it back. it must go to Dept. of Corrections and be posted to his acct. number which is his DOC #. hope this helps

cuteliz..

your best bet is to ask this question in your State forum! Every state has different rules so those who are familiar with your state can help you... you may want to mention which prison he's in also in case there are different rules for each prison.

you can send any amount of money in a money order or personal check in new york.. put his id number on the money order and also in the letter i usually write on top money order in this letter... cause one time it was lost...

i can even put 10,000 in his account if i wanted to ... only on a visit you can leave up to 50.00 in new york.

Wow chris, that must be great! I would love to be able to just write a check for any amount.

Nick is in Illinois (I'm in New York), and I can only send a money order for $50.00 and it has to go to the business office of the prison first, then they send it to him. It has to have his name and inmate # on the money order. I guess the add the money to the books and send the money order to him then, because he's told me before that he's gotten a money order from me.

cuteliz, it all depends on the prison. Your best bet it to call them to find out exactly what the rules are.
