My son was transfer to Jackson for evaluation today. We knew it was coming and are glad to move the process along, but I still wasn't prepared. He was ready to go though. I will miss talking to him every day.

Hang in there. He will be allowed to have visits from immediate family in 6 weeks. Until then, you can call the prison and ask for his gdc number and the address and write him.

I just spoke to my boyfriend and asked him that same question. He said they don't tell you when you are leaving or where, so I'm guessing you will have to wait till you hear from him.

Nope they dont tell them anything,If fact on moving nights they turn the phones off early and wont tell the ones going till after so they cant call anyone and tell them they are being moved.you will just have to wait until they can call you after they have been moved hope this help. A year tomorrow my baby has been gone :(

Even after what I posted that my boyfriend recently told me, I need support. This whole "prison" experience is a nightmare for all involved! Talked to him Tuesday night, and he said would call Wed. around 7. Haven't heard anything since. Finished diagnostics last week. Know he should be moving, but with the overcrowding??? I know it could be a number of reasons but... Anyone know how quick they are moving out of Baldwin State? Does all this "secret/not knowing" give anyone else insecure feelings? PTO is a godsend for moral support. Thank you guys!

Jerry was in Cobb County for 5 months. 4 after he had been sentenced. Sorry I didn't answer this earlier - I didn't see it.

My youngest brother was transferred to GA Diag & Classificaton Prison in Jackson, GA this week. I see that you went through this similar experience with your son in January. Can you provide me with information regarding the GA Diag & Classification Prison? I am have no idea how this process works so any information that anyone can provide me will be appreciated.

How will we find out he is definitely there? Will he be able to call or write? Can we write him? Can he have visitors?

Any information will be greatly appreciated. Especially phone numbers, mailing addresses, how the system works, the entire process.

fyi - the phone access thing at Baldwin is different from Jackson by my understanding. You do get phone access at baldwin after a little while.

only immediate family can visit and thats after 6 weeks no phone calls for five months. they have to pay ten dollars for each doctor visit and testing. money orders need there ef number, gdcid number and pod number. your complete return address must be on the envelope. you can mail as many written pages, newspapers articles and printed things off the internet, the printed things of the net need to be limited to 4-5 pages.
