My baby was just sentenced to 10 yrs, do 5, after time served and the 90% law in GA, it'll be about 4 yrs., he's in Bibb Co. LEC waiting to go. :pissed: Now he is hearing that I may not be able to visit him since we're not married. Does anyone know how true this is? I'm not gonna be able to visit him that often anyway since he's in GA and I'm in TX, but still...I'm so frustrated and I'm not a big fan of the system right now. Also, does anyone know about how they determine the conditions and length of parole? Right now all we have are letters. My long distance was cut off after accepting $1000 worth of collect calls. This is really gonna test the strength of our love!! Also, does anyone know anything about Alto prison? He may be going there and I've heard it's one of the worst. Thanks for listening and for your help.

I wish I could help you, but your best bet is to post this question in the Georgia forum, I am sure you'll get an answer there. Good luck :)

Well I have no idea what determines the condition the length of parole...I think it's all up to the board...yah know how they are. Well this will definitely test everything. Just pray to God for strength and guidance right now. Hang in there and stay strong. You have my support and you can send me a pm anytime okay.

thank y'all so much, but I don't even know where the Georgia forum is anymore. I haven't been on here in so long & it's changed so much. Thanks for your support tho. The hardest thing right now is worrying that I'll lose him over these next 4 or 5 years. I know he loves me and I know how much I love him, it just seem slike a long time. Everyone keeps telling me that if our love is "TRU", that these years won't matter, but that's so easy to say when you're on the other end of it. Thanks again.

I know the distance can be so hard.. I know how you feel, my Mel is in Ohio and I'm in Oregon.. it so hard to get to him and I don't have long distance either.. so we rely on letters.. I don't know why they wouldn't let you visit him because you're not married.. I've never heard that.. The georgia forum is towards the end of the main page of forums.. I think someone should have answers for you there.. I hope so anyways... I'll keep you in my prayers.. and if you ever need to talk feel free to PM me!!! Keep your head up and stay strong!!

Hi! I'm not sure if that is true or not, but have him check and see if they have a 'significant other' form that he can send to you and have you mail back in. That usually will suffice if someone is not married, but involved! So make sure he checks.

As far as Alto goes, I know a couple of people in Alto but we've never discussed the conditions or anything in there so I can't really help you on that one.

Good luck and I hope that you will be able to visit him!

You can call the institution where he is at and ask them...good luck though

While he's in diagnostics (supposed to be 6-8 weeks but can be much longer depending on available bed space to be shipped out to) you won't be able to visit unless you can prove you were common law prior to 1997 or that you were common law where you resided if you lived in a common law state. Once he's shipped out to somewhere else, he can add a signifigant other to his list with just some paperwork.

by the way, i've heard Bibb co is one of the worst county jails around so state may be a step up. I haven't heard that alto (Lee Arrendale Prison) is especially bad. All Ga prisons right now are suffering from overcrowding etc though.

While my man was at Coastal State (Diagnostics) I got to see him.He sent me a Significant other form and I was approved, when he was moved I had to fill out another form and they told him I was only approved cause I had been approved at Coastal,Hope this helps

Thanks y'all. I was aware that I wouldn't be able to visit him while he's in diagnostics. I'm trying to arrange a trip back so I can see him before all that happens. This significant other form, is it just that? One significant other can visit along with immediate family? I'll be sure to tell him about all this so we can get it situated before he's taken off in the middle of the night and we have no contact for a while. are they allowed to write while in evaluation? Thank u again for your help.

Hi Shawty,

I saw the "Previously posted in the wrong forum" title on this and after checking your threads out, since you re-posted in the Georgia forum, I merged the two threads on this together and edited your original post in this thread to include the info/questions from your other original post... just FYI anytime you (or anyone else) need a message thread moved like your original one, feel free to PM me or another moderator about it, we're happy to do it...

Good luck with this situation and hope the Georgia folks will be able to help you lots with the unknowns...

You can visit him in Bibb. All you needs is an ID. In Jackson you won't be able to but it shouldn't be a problem once he's in alto or wherever you will be able to see him again. He may end up at a county CI like my husband did. You never know. I am glad at least the sentencing is done and you can see a light at the end of the tunnel. If you two are meant to be you will make it. I ended up marrying mine after a year of this because we were more in love and had kept in close touch with letters. Hopefully you can get your long distance/phone back on by the time he leaves Jackson. Those calls really help me! I am about 25mins. from Macon so let me know if I can do anything for you!
