I just recieved a letter from "D" stating that they would not recieve mail on Saturdays at his unit beggining Feb. 7th. He was so upset. I was wondering how you all took the news and what did you say to console him or vice versa.
We already have to deal with Sundays and Holidays, now they have to deal with no mail on Saturday. :pissed: It's so unfair. They can't call, visits are limited and now the mail. But i told him i would send him twice as many letters and stuff during the week to make up for it. :)

Charlie's been in for 3 years (Florida) and never received mail on Saturday. He ALWAYS hated it if he didn't get a letter on Friday, 'cause that meant he had to wait until Monday evening! :(

Travis has never had mail on Saturdays either. The holidays are real bad where he's at... on Thanksgiving weekend, they get mail on Wednesday night and not again until the following Monday. That's how it is for most holidays... the mail room is closed for a few days.

Yeah My man has never been able to get mail on Saturdays either and he hates it. I always make sure I get him something in the mail on Tuesdays and Weds. so he gets some mail on Friday because he hates having to wait until Monday to get mail if he gets none on Friday. I know it sucks. It effects us to, because they cant send any out on Saturday. So I never get mail on Tues. It is a horrible cycle that feels like it never ends.....I feel your pain.

Yeah, my man told me about that at our visit this weekend.
He didn't really go into deatil and tell me why. He did say that he was still able to send mail out on Saturdays, he just can't send any out. I thought it was a rule just for their unit, guess not if you ladies are having the same issue.
I hate to hear that, because I usually count down the days he will receive my letter on. Guess now I will try to mail them sooner.

Bryan's had this problem for awhile now so we just accept it,nothing more we can do:( I just keep this in mind when I plan stuff to get there at a certain time(bday or special days etc) otherwise its nbd I guess

My friend is able to get mail on Saturdays. Its always been that way, it would stink for him if they cut that out. I am guessing that the reason that they don't is so they don't have to have the mailroom working on weekends... Lazy.

"D" in in Texas (TDCJ) and i don't know if it is going to affeect all of us in Texas or just certain units. I just know it sucks and "D" was so down about it that i had to try to bring him up and i was just wondering how you all handled it.

LoL I think I have one up on some of you! Kristian doesn't get mail FRIDAY either! So Friday-Sunday he's SOL. But we write eachother frequently, which makes it all the more merrier & while I can receive mail on Saturday's & Sunday's, this is what we do: We start a "journal" type of letter to eachother each Monday. Then the following Monday, we send off the past weeks' worth of entries to eachother. We both get the mail by Wednesday, but sometimes Thursday. It's always nice to read 25 pages of his thoughts & feelings each day, plus it saves on stamps! -Angel

My husband's never gotten Saturday mail. He really looks forward to Monday's mail because he knows I mail something every day (even on Saturdays). Usually on Monday he gets 2 or 3 letters which starts his week out on a good note.

The just started that at Will's unit, yea it sucks, just told him I would make sure I send it out monday or tuesday, so he will have it by friday. He throws a fit if he dont get at least a letter a week, he is so spoiled. Thats my big baby through

Brian gets mail on Saturday's, but the mail doesn't go out on Saturday or Sundays. He got mail on Thanksgiving day. I thought that was odd, but he said something about it was the "overflow" from the week..

Justin has never gotten mail on Saturdays either. It sucks. It seems that the DOC wants to take away everything that our men look forward to. I'd go work in the mailroom on Saturdays just so he could get mail. He usually gets 2 letters on Mondays, b/c I mail one on Friday and one on Saturday. Poor Baby= (

No mail on Saturdays at the Maine State Prison. I make sure he receives something on Friday and Monday and he gets me in person on Saturday. I think I'm more affected by the no mail on Saturday thing because that means I don't get anything from him on Monday. Not a good way to start my week, but I'm getting used to it.

He is in a NY medium Security Facility and "we" have never had mail on Saturdays...

My boo Carlos is locked up in Westville Correctional Facility and he has never been able to recieve mail on Saturdays, he usually takes that day to write me poems and songs. I make sure I send my mail for him out early enough so he recieves it on Friday or I'll send it out Friday so he gets it by Monday.

I Feel Your Pain. The Institution My Baby's In Never Processed Mail On Weekends And Holidays. He Only Got Mail Monday Thru Friday, And If He Didn't Send Out Anything Before Thursday He Couldnt Until Sunday Night, So In Turn Its Mostly Always Atleast Wednesday Before I Get A Letter. To Top It Off They're Cancelling Thursday - Sunday Visits And Instead Making It Saturday And Sunday Only. They're Always Changing Something As If Its Not Hard As It Is. I Dont Think Its Fair...they Really De-humanize Our Loved Ones....

I don't think he gets mail on Saturdays because of visits. I am not usually one to write everyday anyway so it isn't that big of a deal to us.

in both places he has been they do not recieve mail on saturdays or send mail out so i never get a letter on saturdays or on mondays so i am used to that

he just told me they won't be able to get/send mail on saturdays, and i have to say it made both of us sad. i just make sure i mail him a letter on wednesday and one on friday. the wednesday letter gets there friday and the friday letter gets there monday, and if i am off that weekend i get to see him on saturday.

Wills Girl... i feel you about your baby being spoiled. I have to make sure i continue to send out as much mail as i use to or even more. When Monday rolls around and he gets two or three letters he is so happy to know that i continue to think of him by writing even though the DOC holds them.

Shell021001.. i can't imagine "D" not recieving mail from me for the whole Christmas Holiday to New Years. He would consider it torure or cruel and unusual punishment. But the more i deal with the DOC the more i learn to accept things as they come. Or atleast try to anyway.

I shoud be grateful because some of you have it worse than "D" and I. And I am!!! Never in a million years would i think MAIL on certain days would be such an issue to me. But good things come to those who wait. (I KNOW... ANOTHER CLICHE :)) After "D" did not hear from me for about five days he got three letters at one time and he said he did a Michael Jacksopn spin when the letters arrived. I wish i could have seen it, but a smile rests on my face just thinking about it.

Bobby is in CA Fed and dosen't get the mail on sat while I do. nevertheless, I didn't get one this Sat and I'm feeling bumed out about it. I hate waiting until Monday like the rest of you. Nevertheless, there has been talk about discontiueing the Sat mail all together around the states. has anyboy els heard of this?

Bobby is at Atwater. I have recived letters every day of the week except Sunday. For awhile there Iwas geting most of them on Monday and Saturday. It all depends on when he's sending them out. I always check the post date and the date on the letter.

here we are with the mail woes AGAIN!!! Josh received mail at Tracy on Saturdays but since 12/23/03 he moved to Avenal and NO mail on Saturdays... I had to tell him I would get mail to him so he can get it.. but It takes him 2-3 weeks to get my letters... so it really doesnt matter what I do.... :(

Hey, I'm new to all this so does any know if Graham Prison gets mail on saturdays? If not that sucks! I send him out a letter everyday.

Damn Joshgirl... 2-3 weeks to get mail. What do they do send it overseas and back? :)That really, really sucks. I thought four days was bad.

My guy is at WASCO waiting to go to mainline and the mail there takes 2 to 3 1/2 weeks! So by the time he gets mine the news is waaay old. His gets to me in 2 to 3 days.

Yeah.... they took one of the visiting rooms and it has all the mail in it... then they have both yards visit in one room... so when people come to visit they just send us home early now.... :(

Also in Florida and they don't deliver mail on Saturday's. I always try to drop my mail to him at the local P.O. on the way to visitation on the weekends so he'll get a bunch on Monday. Doesn't always work though as the mailroom seems to have their own "agenda" and it doesn't include getting the mail out in a "timely" manner! There have been many times I've mailed things that he SHOULD'VE gotten on Friday, but didn't receive until Monday or Tuesday of the following week. Just another "thing" we have to deal with as there isn't a way of PROVING they are sitting on the mail.

J doesn't get mail on Saturdays. He gets all his papers for the weekend on Monday(He has a subscription to our local paper). His mail only goes out on Mon., Wed. and Fri.. If it's a holiday, oh well!

I wonder what they thought Valentines. He was getting stuff everyday. Big envelopes of hearts and kisses, cards. Everything smelling like a French w****house!
They couldn't have possibly read everything written on all those hearts. There were a couple of hundred of them. They even let all the stickers and puffy hearts go through.
I think they probably just threw their hands up and said, "To hell with it".

The facility where my husband is allows them to be able to receive mail on Saturdays, but they can not mail out anything on Saturdays.

My man has never been able to get mail on Saturdays. The only time they've ever gotten mail on a Saturday is when they were on lockdown not too long ago. Other than that, it's Mon-Fri like clock work unless it's a holiday then they have to wait. It bothers me more than it bothers him, but oh well. I'm used to it now.

It does suck they don't get any mail on saturdays. my fiance said its beacause they can't afford to pay for a saturday mail room person.Pa is so cheap anyways.we just deal like wiht everything else.right now he gets my letters in 2 daysright now anyways, who knows how long that'll last but we're enjoying it.i get his in 2 days also.his was taking 3-4 days to get to him.who knows with the postal system and the jails.

Ricky has gotten used to it, he has told me that he doesnt get mail on the weekends, so when I send him more than one letter that he recieves on fridays he saves one for saturday, but he really doesnt have time on the weekends, to read them because he works on the weekend, and since he works in the kitchen he works 3 times a day, by the time he gets back to his dorm he's soo tired sometimes he just waits until his days off, on monday or tuesday to read them. So I think it's a bigger deal if I don't get mail, on saturday!!!

No mail on the weekends here at all. They get it Friday, and then wait till Monday. It's really only one more day in comparission to what the mail is like out here.
Not that big of a deal as far as I can tell.
