This is a sad situation. I know in Florida they used to let the guys have recreation time, such as make models, etc, do paintings. Then someone decided (as a stupid excuse) that contraband was getting out of the prison this way. So that small luxury that they had no longer exists, they arent even allowed to pretty up there envelopes. They get 4 hours a week, but that is ridiculous as well. The 8th amendment states this is cruel and unusual punishment, but you ask the DOC , an that say its acceptable. I hope that things do change as well, for the sake of these mens sanity. It is cruel, they have a right to rights. At least in Florida, they are allowed small TVs, but I know in places like Texas DR they arent allowed to have TVs. It is a hard cruel life that they make these men live, that alot of them give up appeals, or actually do suicide.
May god bless them all. I dont like saying this, but I hope one day a guard or a warden have to walk in the footpaths that these men are forced to take.
