What can you bring, what can you wear etc. I've found that the process isn't that long at all. Your husband puts in a request for it, has to wait 30 after marriage date. It takes about 3 weeks for them to set the date. As far as what to bring; you have to bring your own paper of plastic plates, bowls, cups, eating utensils. EVERYTHING must be in a clear container, huge pain in the butt!! clear deoderant, clear shampoo bottle, clear lotion bottle. Makeup has to be kept to a minimum; usually one lipstick, eyeliner, blush, ect. All clothing that you bring in has to fit the regular visiting guidelines. If you have any medication at all, you have to bring a doctors note explaining what the medication is for. Bring extra money, because even though your husband orders the food; bread, soda, milk, and butter are extra. You buy the soda cans out of the vending machine for .50 each, the bread is about $2.50 for one loaf, the milk is the little ones you get while in elementary school and cost about .89 each (they have chocolate too), and the butter is $1.00 for a cube. They do supply pans and pots, but you have to bring your own dish washing liquid. You also have to bring your own sheets and pillow cases, and a blanket. They do not allow comforters! ALL OF THESE ITEMS HAVE TO BE BROUGHT IN A CLEAR BAG. They do not allow duffle bags or suitcases. I've found that Walmart or dollar stores are the best place to find the bags. Make sure that you bring a copy of your marriage certificate each time you go for family visit. The apartments are fairly nice. They have 2 bedrooms and a living room, no flourescent lighting thank goodness!! We always take the box and matress off the bigger bed and put it in the living room so we can chill on the bed and watch tv.... You go to the regular visiting room to get processed, be there right at 8am because they process you in between regular visitors. I can't think of anything else, but I think this is a pretty good start.... Enjoy your visits!!!! |
