You have to serve 85% of your sentence here no matter what. ocalf 02-04-2004, 11:45 AM My guy is one of the lucky few who is still eligible for parole. He went in under the old law. The state we are from took away parole and changed it to the serving 85% of their time, but thank goodness he went in before the change was made. Zewskislady 02-05-2004, 05:41 PM Pennsylvania inmates are eligible for parole after 50% of the sentence is served...which for "B" is 15 years. J D's Girl 02-23-2004, 10:21 PM My guy is one of the lucky few who is still eligible for parole. He went in under the old law. The state we are from took away parole and changed it to the serving 85% of their time, but thank goodness he went in before the change was made. Don't want to be the bearer of bad news but from what I understand, the new law is "retroactive"! The "Truth in Sentacing Law" pertains to anyone that has committed a violent crime. If your state doesn't abide by it, they lose some of their grant money. I'd look into it if I were you. My guy went in under the old law too, but they changed his eligibility for parole to 50% (Maryland), instead of the old 33 1/3. ocalf 02-24-2004, 09:26 AM I guess I will check into it. Some people I know went in for other crimes (non violent) and they have to do 85%, I'm just glad my guy only has to do 30% of his time. bikerbaby45 02-24-2004, 10:46 AM I am in Oklahoma, My hubby was arrested in 1997, sentenced in 1998 and I asked a lawyer if they could hold the new enhanced law to Raymond's sentence and he told me they could'nt. But he went in front of the parole board on August 15, 2001 but was denied. But he keeps telling me that he is not having to do 85% of his sentence. He still gets 45 extra days a month for each month he is in on level 4. According to his full sentence of days it is 16,425 days for a 45 year sentence, he has 11,219 days left to discharge. The way I figured it up he has done 14 years and 86 days in the 5 years and 10 months he has been in. He sends me a copy of his evaluation sheet he gets each month to see how many days they deduct for each month. I sure hope that he's not having to do 85%. I dont know how to find out. Could somenone tell me who to contact about it. He does'nt get another parole hearing until 2012, according to the DOC print out I got on his record of arrests. He keeps saying that he will discharge his sentence before the 2012 hearing comes up. Help! :fb: Travs_girl 02-24-2004, 11:35 AM No parole in Washington. They have some sort of drug program that you can get half time for completing, but Travis doesn't qualify since he has a weapons enhancement charge in addition to his drug charge. babygirlgrownup 02-24-2004, 04:13 PM That's the only thing good about Texas...you can get parole. In my sweetie's case he sees parole almost every 2 years. squeaky 02-24-2004, 06:57 PM it's been interesting to see how each state is so different.my guy hasn't a chance of getting out until 2020.i pray for everyone to have a change in their state and have a early release. chrispro 02-25-2004, 12:40 PM not in new york for state .... federal is the good time or you serve 85 percent in new york but my husband has to complete his full sentence until parole ...
