I Wish We Could Be Together
as a Family at Easter
I wish that every holiday
could find us gathered
around the same table.
It's where I know
you and I both
would most like to be this Easter.
There is something so comforting
about the laughter and conversation
of friends and family
who share both past history
and dreams for the future.
This Easter, we cannot be together.
But even when separated by many miles,
I always have a sense
that we are present with one another
in our hearts.
You are my family.
Without you,
I would feel adrift in the world.
So this Easter,
as I see life bursting out
fresh and new all around me,
I am thankful that our love adapts
yet remains true through
all the seasons of life.
I am grateful
for all the blessings
of friends, home, and family.
And I am thankful
for you —
for all the ways we are alike
and all the ways we are different.
In you, I see timeless strength and hope.
In us, I feel closeness —
even when we are miles apart.

With special thoughts
of you at Easter.
