I recieved this e-mail & thought I'd pass it on to everyone regarding Texas prisons-------Ken

To us millions of advocates and MEDIA...
This is about the Texas Prisons New laws!
Sorry I have not participated well as of late but so many things are happening in my family with so much sickness ( Lyme Disease with seizures, comas, etc) and then my computer went down that I have been offline.
BUT...I went to visit the guys and my son at Wynne Unit Saturday and the new stupid law concerning their property is outragious! Chad, Kevin, and the others we visit ( we take about 10 of us and we have all of us on their visiting list so they can have some out of seg time) said that they guards are misinterpeting the law. They have a copy of the law and they say each guard (stupid people) interepts it differently until they don't know what to do to keep their property.
They said that one guard says they have to keep all electrical items on the floor at all times. Well... when they go to the showers, the guards are conficating the items for no reason. They have to keep their electrical stuff on the beds because so many inmates put things in the comodes to stop them up and make them run over just to get a guard to come see about them. Many have had seizures and the like and the lazy guards won't even come help them so they have to get attention this way. When the water starts running down to the bottom level that gets the guards up there to take care of their medical needs but still in a sloppy way. When the water runs over the floors, this destroys the electrical property that "WE" spend our hard earned money to buy!! When each shift interepts these stupid new laws wrongly.....the inmates do not know what the real law is and then they conficate their belongings. These new laws are BS but when these ignorant guards and wardens do not even know how to implement them, it is worse.
WONDER where TDCJ is taking their belongings??? To their homes again as they have the food??.......of course!
We advocates need a plan as I get letters from most all the units in Texas and they all say the same thing!
Any suggestions to stop this inhumane insanity by the prisons and to stop them from hurting "us the families and friends" pocketbooks as we are the ones whot bought these things being stolen by the system?

Sharing great info from advocate Stephanie
If you cannot reslove the problem within the unit UTMB, then that is when Ms.Mckinney is suppose to step in. You see the Leguslatior formed a committee that is to over see the medical and health care of the inmates at the unit and UTMB.
They are suppose to act as a seperate body from either one. But as we well know they will tell you all they are suppose to do is make sure that the inmates are getting acess to care. Which we all know is a bunch of bull. I think the only thing that has helped me is that I have the paper work and
documantation and they know that. But as I dig deeper into all this I am finding things out I really don't like.
Did you know that the money they save by buying cheap drugs, deny needed procedures and surgeries ect. what ever is left out of the money granted for medical care is put into a money account. Then the next year it is alloted (a little) for medication for utmb, then the rest is doulded out to several things for TDCJ. Increses in salary ect, ect. If the tax payers
knew this they would have a fit.Just thought you should know that

Here is another one I recieved you may find interesting-----KenTo all of you,

Please, find below the comment of Mallory, a Swiss woman, who came to visit Granville Riddle in Texas Death row at the end of July 2002 and the beginning of August 2002. As you will see, her recent news show how both prisoners and visitors are treated at A. Polunsky Unit.
Grandville's new lawyer, Mr. Gary Taylor, wants Mrs Lisa Milstein to investigate on Grandville's case.Thomas probably told you about the new rules of the prison, which are terrible. The number of stamps inmates can purchase was reduced to 30 a week instead of 50. For those, as Granville, who mainly correspond with pen-friends who live outside the USA this is a major problem. Granville thinks that such rule was decided to limit the correspondence with foreigners.
Concerning my visits (6 on the whole), they always bothered me about the clothes, which I was wearing. My daughter had a small toy that she wanted to take with her during a visit as nothing is foreseen for children. They let us go through the automatic main entrance before the visiting room and once
we reached the last door, a guard told me that the toy couldn't be brought in the visiting room. I was ordered to bring back the toy in my car. As I was wearing a low-waist jeans (which I however wore during my previous visits),
I was told by an officer that I wasn't allowed to go in the visiting room with it and that I had to change it. I replied that I couldn't speak well English and that I had not other clothes. So, he ordered me to wear my jacket for the whole visit. My last visit was terrible and I cried a lot. That made laugh officers I passed by on the way back to the exit gate of the jail. Only a woman, a black guard who was in the visiting room was really kind with my daughter and I. She asked Granville why we were so sad.
This prison is a modern concentration camp which knows well how to hide the "muck" which ' occurs inside. They began painting works on walls outside the prison while inside toilets and showers don't work, for more than three weeks in some cells.
Everything is deteriorating inside but you can't see that from the outside : the prison seems clean. Gardens are maintained splendidly but enormous
rats walk in flowerbeds, I saw them !!!
To resume the situation, Allen B. Polunsky Unit in Texas is a horrible place were human s' rights are violated.
Please forward widely this message, we have to denounce the abusive practices that authorities want to hide behind their walls.

There is NO justice system here in Texas that I have seen, instead it's "JUST A SYSTEM" and a corrupt one at that! I must say that over the last few years, I have lost almost all respect for the so called "law". I don't understand why we as family member's end up suffering in our own way while our loved one's are incarcerated. I haven't as of yet seen any rehabilatation effort by the "system" where my son is. He seems to find solace and help from within himself, and other inmates. The guards from what I've seen are a joke!
