I thought the state supplied a certain amount of hygiene products each month... Please correct me if I'm wrong...

Yes the state does provide femine products however they used to give you only 20 a month but the co's should have some at the desks. Now as far as hygiene the chapel will help with that. She should send a request to the chapel for indigent supplies!!! Hope all goes well with her and tell her to keep her nose clean and her head up!

Sassy,
Thank you for information. I know all of this and she probably does to. My question is: If she has access to items, why ask for them by mail? She's begging for help, and there is nothing right now I can do about it.

I am surprised they would allow it to come in from the outside. Have you contacted the facility?

I need to figure out who is her counselor. any ideas? funny, when I was working in the department, it was easy to get things done. Now, I'm at a lost.

You can call the prison and give them her name and tell them you need to speak with her counselor... They will look it up and connect you... Very simple actually...

the womens prisons are cutting back on the amount of ' female hygiene' items' since they now can be pruchased in the store and unfortuantely those who are indigient will be without... the chaplain resigned just recently and the chaplain area is now run by a volunteer chaplain who is swamped..with two additional volunteers
plus soon, there will be a smoking ban beginning in Jan on ALL Georgia prisons and this is no rumor..it failed once but they will attempt once more..
friendly advice to those who give out names.....do not do it for their sake...you dont know who you are chatting with and the names could be used against the named person...so be safe with the ones you are caring about.
thanks for reading and i hope i helped out with info

I recent read a letter that sent to a prison blog
http://jonsjailjournal.blogspot.com/2009/11/women-in-prison-from-lifer-helen-letter.html
Her condition is getting worse. it's been 4 months now. I have heard nothing from her. thank God, she is still alive. Dying but alive.
