Hi, can anyone tell me if there is a way to take a tour of tutwiler prison, or if anyone would know of any details to help me find that information? Thank you.

Hi, I've moved this into its own thread so it won't get overlooked (since it was stuck at the bottom of a thread that's about five years old....) ;)

To be honest, I don't think any of the ADOC prisons "officially" offer tours to the general public. You could always call the business office or the warden's office at Tutwiler and ask, I suppose - but don't be surprised if the answer is no.

I'm sure they all give tours occasionally to church groups, academic groups, philanthropy groups, etc. that may inquire, or business groups they may be in talks about contracting with and stuff like that - but I don't think there's anything really "official" about giving tours and if you're just asking for yourself, I think the answer would likely be no - but again, you could always call and see.

I would also be prepared for a lot of questioning about what and why your interest is, because there would be a lot of security issues about bringing people into the facility for a tour in the first place. After all, they make us family and loved ones jump thru all kinds of hoops to be able to even visit at all, so it's kind of understandable.
