My daughter was put in Tutweiler Oct.1,09 She wants me to come and visit and to bring her boyfriend. He is on probation until Nov6th for burglery. He has no other charges but the date to visit is Nov.7th. Does anyone know what he can do to reasure me that the 3hr trip will not be a waiste of time. I don't think she has gotten her visitation approved. She just wrote and said her visitation date. Thanks to anyone that can help me.

Normally, anyone who wants to visit sends in a form that has to be pre approved. Please call and talk to the visit officer before you make the trip.

Anyone who is in trouble with the law or has been within the last year is normally denied visits.

He wouldn't be able to visit anyway unless he has been approved on her list - which she will know when they've approved (or denied) it - there's no point in him going unless you know for sure whether he's been approved or not. (For that matter, no point in anyone on her list going if her list hasn't been approved yet. They will not let anyone visit if her list has not yet been approved.)

They may or may not approve him on the list. Stuff like that is always kind of a tossup, but that's really all I can say is that they might or might not.

You can call Tutwiler and ask for the visitation officer to see if her list has been approved or not, if you don't want to wait to find out from her.

All visitors have to be on the approved visitor list. You have to submit certain information on the ADOC form-name-ss#-address-prior convictions, etc. Without that approval, no one gets in to visit. Contact the warden's office or the visitation office at the prison and ask them.
