My fiance was transferred to SMCI for getting 2 RVR's at a work facility. His punishment for one of them was 30 day restrictions from visits, commisary, and phone calls. The punishment for the other RVR was 20 days in the hole. His restrictions started on the 15th. He told me I would have mail from him every day and I still havnt heard anything. Does being on the 30 day restrictions mean no mail also? I know its only been a week, but this week has been the longest Ive gone without hearing from him. And when he does have to go to the hole, does he still get to send and receive mail? Errrrr. I hate this.

Thanks a bunch. Well at least I now know that mail privelidges dont get taken away. Hopefully Ill have something tomorow. Just thought it was strange cause on our last phone call last wednesday, he said i should have mail everyday this week. It suuure does suck when everyday you're lookin forward to something, and everyday u get disappointed. Its crazy how a letter or a 15min phone call can be the hi-lite of your week. Its definately nerve wracking to always be wondering.....
Anyways, thanks again.

Nope, mail is not supposed to be restricted, incoming or outgoing. Whether or not he has stamps and envelopes is another story. If he had a supply of them, I believe he can still have them in the hole but I could be wrong.

If I'm not mistaken, and I'm really straining the memory on this one...(smile)...the outgoing and incoming mail are read when they're in the hole so that could be part of the holdup.

I'm sure he is or will write as soon as he's able and I'll bet letters coming in from you will make these days easier for him to get through. Good luck to you both!

He cannot order them, but if he has a supply he can write.

Also it takes time for it to come through, and mail gathered on Thursday probably didn't mail out untill Monday.

But the DOC cannot withhold Mail.

Thanks everyone....I did get a letter today. Thaaank goodness....He has a full supply of stamps and envelopes also. The last letter I had received, was a card about us getting married and asking if I wanted to have a proxy marriage since I live here in Texas. We had been discussing getting married, but he was just concerned about me missing out on the whole romantic proposal and traditional wedding. That stuff doesnt matter to me. We have the rest of our lives for romance and making up for what we missed out on. So he told me for a week that I had a big surprise coming in the mail, which was the proposal. Well it arrived one day after his restrictions started thanks to there being no mail on labor day. So I had to mail him his reply which was of course YES, but i've been on the edge of my seat waiting to hear his response back. He said I would have mail everyday this week, so I was just makin sure that they weren't holdin it.
But today I heard from him...and im now alllll smiles.
Its crazy how you can be lonely and stressed all week long, but one little letter in the mail makes everything all better.
Thanks for all the info....

Errr.... So im just gonna vent for a moment... Everythings been goin half ass smoothly, my husband was gonna be eligible to go back to a satalite facility on jan 6th cause it will have been 3 months since his last RVR. Wellllll. I got a phone call from him informing me that he got another RVR. At first I was so pissed off, dont get me wrong, im still pissed but the reason this time is just ridiculous. He's had a sweet job for a couple weeks and has been getting to leave the prison and do general labor at a church or something. Well K9 came out and took everyones jackets on the job, there were only 4 inmates. Everyone had some sort of contraband in their coat. Everyone got an RVR for "smuggling contraband". My dear ol sweetheart, well his contraband was a trial packet of Pantene shampoo that he took out of the bathroom at the church. He's been on restrictions so hasnt been able to order canteen, he said when he saw the shampoo he was like "Helll Yeeah, beats the hell outta the state issued soap". So there we have it. This was his 4th RVR, so surely his custody will be dropped, he can forget about goin to a satalite facility for what, 6months? And he'll surely get another 30 days of restrictions....all for a freakin packet of Pantene shampoo...I sware, its 2 steps forward and 3 steps back!!!!
