Currently my husband is in Petersburg low, and I may relocate to the area. I was thinking more of the Richmond VA area. I am a cosmetologist and will need to first look for work prior to my move. Can people from the area inform me of the salons in the area. My experience with hair is with all hair types, and specializing in color, cutting, and relaxers. I am looking for a up scale salon, preferable with benefits. If anyone can help that would be great. Even if you could name the Salon you go to so I can get a feel of the market that would be great. I live over 1500 miles away from my husband and can't wait to be closer.
By the way to those who helped me out on my Thanksgiving trip thank you so much. Everything went well with a few exceptions. If anyone ever visits Petersburg make sure you wash your hands before drug test. :(

In Southside Richmond, look around the Stoney Point area for upscale salons. Also, Chesterfield and West End Henrico County have a plethora of them. Just keep away from Downtown Richmond. Good luck.

It may be a bit out of the way for Petersburg, but you may consider Hampton Roads too get into Virginia. Just a thought. Tain is there any salons near Carey Street that may be of interest? It has been awhile since Linda and I have been up to Richmond.

There are MANY high-scale salons in the Richmond area. Richmond is a bit far out from Petersburg though. In Richmond and in Midlothian there is Salon del Sol. I used to get my hair done there but it was too expensive to keep up. There is also a new fashion park in Stony Point. Many high-scale places there. On Patterson Ave. there is Face Works Spa. There are really toooo many good salons in Richmond since it is such a melting pot. You might also try somewhere in Chester around Southpark mall since it is alot closer to Petersburg. Hope you have some luck. Im a Chesterfield native if you need to know anything else about the area!

Thanks everyone, I have got a lot of insight. What would I do without my PTO family. I will try to look the Salons up and give them a call and in a few months I will be visiting the area. The drive is no big deal for me, I have not quite decided which city I would live in but preferable one close to my job. So it would be more of a drive to see my husband, in which I would drive the world over to see him. So ladies tell me more about Richmond. I visited the area but don't know much. I was told by someone in Virginia beach that Richmond had a high murder rate, how true is that? I didn't get that, however I do not live there. What is the average rent for a 2 bedroom apartment? Any information would be great! thanks once again.

Richmond is NOT that bad!! My AIM sn is swtnsexyjess18 Ill be more than happy to Q&A all your questions. Im right outside of Richmond in Chesterfield. Chesterfield is great. The malls are awesome. Richmond is my getaway (its only 15 min away lol) but I LOVE the aura of the city. I more like the bottom, its a cool place, and carytown is great! I hope you like it there!! And rent... ahhhh it averages about 700 a month. If you have a child, i would not reccomend richmond. Chesterfield county is a great school system.

I had lived in Richimond for about 25 yrs and the murder rate has always been high because they base it on the population, as in any town there are bad areas. Chesterfield is probably the best to live but in the County of Chesterfield you have the town of Chester, Hopewell, and Colonial Heights all have a good number of salons but as a guy I kinda stick to the Barber shops. I now live in Lynchburg because I wanted my kids to be in a better school system. Finding a job will not be a problem in Richmond but the cost of living is harsh. Good luck

Cary Street in Richmond, Virginia, is an electic hot-spot. If you can find a job there working with hair, you can be sure to get top dollar for your services. I can't recommend anyone but it's only a one-mile long section that's hip with shops. You should check it out. The people there are friendly and may be able to point you to places where you can find work.
