My fiance and I want to be married but the Arizona DOC rules state that you must be an approved visitor first. Well I was also in prison and released 3-29-03. So far I have been denied once for visiting. Does anyone know if there is a waiting period where I can be allowed to visit? Also, I am in the process of getting my rights restored to see if that can help - we just want to be able to visit and be married.
thanks

We were told by some that the waiting period is a year and we were also told that I would never be eligible being a felon..... He is in Douglas right now, I'm hoping to get approved because we can't get married unless I am an approved visitor.

I went through the same thing when my honey was in state prison. I was released off of parole in good standing, and I asked my po if she would send a faxed letter to the warden of the facility, on my behalf to say that I was at no risk for their security. I was then approved after making an appointment to see the chief of security. It was time consuming, the process took about 2 months. A month after I was cleared, he got transfered to federal prison, and I haven't been approved for visits. I send in the visit form almost every 2 months, and no luck. Screw them. For you, try and ask p.o. to vouch for you, it's worth the try. Good Luck
