I have a question about parole in ga. My son has been in jail since aug. He was set to diagnostics in Dec. He was sent to Milan state prison in Jan. How long will it be before he receives a TPM? His parole officer only recommended 6-12 months and he has served 3 months. How long will it be before he knows whether he will get out in 6 months. He got a new charge but no extra time. his max out is march 2006. What can I do to speed up the process?

hi sarah,

well since his parole officer only recommended 6-12 months I am not sure. Usually around 8 months (give or take a little) they establish a tpm. So I don't know. I wish I could help but that situation is a bit different. Maybe someone else will be along and be able to help.

Good luck

I cant really say for sure or not because all of that often depends on how many other times he has been in the system.Under "normal" prison guide lines in Ga. since 1990 something,it has been to usually serve 4 months off of each year. You can call the automated parole line about his tpm it will let you know if he has one yet it is:404-656-5651.Still I wouldnt worry,if only 6 to 12 mos has been revoked, then he ought to have a tpm very soon, but all of that depends on exactly what the sentence is.

His sentence was 2 years for the new charge and he only had 2 years left on parole. he got credit for time served. So I guess I won't get worried until it gets around the 8 month mark. I just want to know a date soon so me and his wife can have something to look forward to. He has a 7 month old son he hasn't seen since he was 3 months old. I just want him home. Thanks for the number. His case is still"under investigation". What does that mean?

All that means is that his tpm is being "discussed" or "reviewed"...really they dont bother to sit around discussing that , but that is a good sign because it means that he WILL recieve a date and that he is "elidgable" for parole..he WILL make parole the date is just not yet determined...they have stack loads of folks and its just likely they havent got to his yet is all,but I wouldnt keep calling those folks live,I suggest you use the automated line I gave you instead those people get angry real quick if ya know what I mean, and its not unheard of for them to "misplace" inmates' paper work...sad but true indeed. Im a SARAH too,by the way..good luck
