I am all new to this, but I am wanting to know what it is going to be like when Robert and I do get married while he's in prison. Will that make a difference in whether or not he gets sent to a halfway house or gets to come home with me? Anyone know? Please do tell! Thanks!!

Hello RobertsWife -- I met and married my husband in 1996. The only benefit of being a convict's wife is we are the ones who get the call should something fatal happen to him. Incarceration is about the inmate -- period. If he has or takes on a wife or has a girlfriend or whathave you, fine, but the DOC's concern is with the inmate and only the inmate. The only part the wife plays in their concern is they (the DOC) seems to believe the inmate is more calm if he has a wife or girlfriend b/c having her in his life pretty much takes him mind off of trouble he might otherwise get into. That's just been my experience.

:cuffs: [B]Thanks for the congrats, but I got some bad news. Robert is in the hole and neither of us want to marry over the phone thru glass. So we will wait until he gets home. He gets out of SECC on April 14, 2004 and has to go to Dismas House in St. Louis for 45 days. We decided to wait until then. What's the rush, we're going to be together forever anyway, married or not!

Yeah, it doesn't matter when you get married if you are planning a future together. It's better to wait! Congrats! I'm really :) happy for you!?!

I have a quick question, i want to get married to my boyfriend but of course he is incarcerated in Woodville Texas in the Gib Lewis Unit. I am from Laredo Texas which is pretty far, i get ot see him about every two months but they won't give me a contact visit cause im not imidiate family. but i was wondering if anyone knew about how to go about getting married with an inmate even if its common law...

I believe you can still get married, even if you dont have contact visit , because after your married you will beable to have them. Good luck!
