........I was going to enquire about mailing addresses but I just read a previous post about mail where it seems it is OK to mail without dorm # etc.

I was just concerned about mail being rejected cause I do not have dorm , bed # etc...

Most of the time most of the facilities are pretty good about going ahead and giving mail to them without a dorm and/or bed number, at least the first few times. After that they may send a note to the inmate asking them to ask their people to make sure they put it on there, but generally they're all okay about it.

Tutwiler's the only ADOC prison I've known of that has habitually returned mail without those on it, so you should be okay.

Thank you Lysbeth for your help. I was not sure what I should do, but I do have AIS # etc.

I have sent mail there a number of times without the dorm number or bed number and he has gotten it. Shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks Ms Rossi, I feel better about it now, I will send a letter...... I was a bit worried about it, did not want to get anyone into trouble - including me.... http://www.prisontalk.com/forums/images/icons/icon11.gif having mail rejected...

You're very welcome. Yeah, as long as you have the AIS number (gotta have that AIS number for anything and everything!), should be no problem.

I don't know why they're such sticks in the mud at Tutwiler about it. A former PTO member who I'd never sent mail to and didn't have her dorm/bed number didn't get a Christmas card one year thanks to them being so anal retentive about the dorm/bed thing, but as I said, Tutwiler and occasionally Bibb have been the only ones that have done that that I've heard of. And it's really kind of silly to expect first-time mailers who probably haven't heard from the inmate to have that on the envelope, folks aren't psychic after all.

Just a note to let you all know that I have had a reply from my friend at St clair. He received the letter I sent that had no bed number on it.

Thanks to all for your advice and help.....
