View Full Version : I'm New...Can someone help with Parole Issues?
theunforgiven 09-14-2002, 03:24 PM I am new to the board and this is the first time I've been here in the forum. How, I got to this site is trying to find help with parole.
I have a couple of questions to ask...any and all responses are appreciated. My husband goes up for parole in three weeks and I feel that I've just not done everything that I can to help him out.
1) Is there anyone out there who has started any kind of parole petitions or letter writing groups that will help each other out with parole? I know that support is important when one goes up for parole and wondered if people on the internet would be willing to help each other out on something like that?
2) Are there any suggestions that you can make on helping your loved one make parole? Any special things we would need to do, like counselling, church, any groups??
3...not a question but a comment...I think this site is great, I'm glad that there are people out here that we can turn to when we have someone in prison. Keep up the wonderful work and I'm sure you'll be seeing more of me in the near future so that I may learn and share with you.:fb:
tebkrg 09-14-2002, 03:31 PM Hey,
Welcome to PTO - I cannot help you with your specific questions, but I am sure that someone here can! You might want to post the same question in the Parole forum.
Valerie 09-14-2002, 07:00 PM Welcome to PTO!
danielle 09-14-2002, 08:51 PM Welcome to PTO -
I do not know of any specific groups for letter writing, but members here are pretty good about helping each other out. My husband had a parole revocation hearing in April and for it we submitted letters on his behalf from everybody we could think of - friends who were cops, employers, friends, family, clergy - anybody willing to write one. We also submitted a home and job plan.
If you want help in writing letters on your husband's behalf, then let us know.
Once again welcome and support is what we are all about!
theunforgiven 09-15-2002, 01:51 PM i would love any help that I could get,,,but time is so short now, that I'm not sure anyone would have enough time to do anything much!...if anyone would like to help or write a letter, please email me. I only have two weeks left until parole

jbmccormick 09-15-2002, 02:34 PM It is very late, however I suggest you join and look over the files and posts of the followin sites. While both are particular to Texas, I would believe that the information contained is relatively standard.
Good luck.
Jim

Veronica 09-15-2002, 04:55 PM I wrote numerous letters to everyone who might have a say in my husband's parole. I also had people who respected my husband write letters, like his employer, family friends, community memebers, church members. Get all of those together and approach the parole board.
Good Luck, sorry I can't be of more help.

tekela 09-18-2002, 02:00 AM Welcome to PTO!
Every State is different I would advise you to contact the adult Parole authority or it's equivelent tin your state and ask for a list of information regarding parole hearings ie...What can be presented at the hearing. You could probably get anyone to get that list for you. I would also try to find out weather the prosecuter's office is opposed to parole. In Ohio when a person's up for parole the prosecuter's office is notified and can send a letter of opposition.

Budwoman 10-22-2002, 09:52 AM Unforgiven..... I did not see this until today, but I too am going on November 19 to a hearing for my son. I have nothing to take except I am gathering letters from his friends, loved ones, and PTO family. See My Petition on PTO under General Prison Talk. I also am getting letters from everyone I can to take with me. I will prepare a summary of Who Butch is today compared to what he was 12 years ago. I also plan to Go over the things he has acomplished over the last 12 years. I am taking my Pastor, Butch's Brother, My Husband, myself and Butch's Pastor with me. I feel that all these people can help him by telling the Parole Board what they know Butch to be.
Good Luck on your try. Be Professional and sincere. Let them know that he has a place to live and possibly a job. If you know of anyone who will offer him one, take that letter with you too.
Best Wishes
Donna
sunni 11-03-2002, 05:28 PM You originally posted your question in September - Any luck with the parole board for your husband? Was he paroled? Possibly he is out and you won't even be on this site any lonter, I hope for you he is out. My brother came up for parole last year and they added 60 years to his sentence because of the nature of the crime. He was sentenced to life with a minimum of 25 years before parole. I need an attorney to help. What is happening on your end? Did you need an attorney? :)
