My son will be getting out next year on a non violent felony. He is being told he will have 9 mos of post release supervision..Is there a difference between that and parole? Where does one look for rules? Is NC good about transferring parole to another state?

Parole and Post supervision are not the same...parole has to be approved and only exists for people convicted before 1994 when Structured sentencing came into effect. Post supervision is automatic and is given to the inmate once the max amount of time has been served unless inmate chooses not to take it and wants to finish their time in prison.. On post release; depending on the supervison officer he could be required to do some of the same things like with probation/parole...be in at certain times, etc. etc. I would think you can get on the DOC website to find out more info or hopefully someone will add to the info I have provided for you.
