My fiance has a bad knee, he had surery on it when he was out, and the DR. told him he would probably need like a replacement for the cartilage. I called RCI, and talked to the head person in medical, I told her I have medical ins available for him once we get married, and asked if it would help if he had to get the replacement done? She said she can't tell me nothing because I'm not his next of kin. I said all I'm asking is if my Insurance would help, and she said she couldn't tell me. I sware every time I think I've seen it all with this place, they out do theirselves.

I'll tell ya, since my boyfriend went to "boot camp" here in Michigan, I have never felt so non-existant. He is only allowed to call "immediate family" and only "they" can visit him right now. We live together for God Sake!!! But, since were not married, I don't matter. I guess I never understood that whole thing until now. It sux.

So does this mean if I have my husband covered on my insurance, does it work for , or will it if he sees a doctor in there or not. Dang now I'm wondering. First they complaint about them being covered for free, yet some of us can and will provide them with insurance, but then again they may not apply it when it comes down to it! Say what!!!

I do not know of any states that allow the outside insurance to cover for a inmate. I am married to my husband in Illinois and I have insurance, but I am not allowed to use it for him. The state pays for everything. I know it sounds silly and is wrong. Even though I will pay for everything. It's crazy. If you need some help on getting him medical care at his prison email me off line and I will help you. Tonygirl4200@aol.com

Hi! horsegal,

The state unfortunatley will not let you pay for it. He however is entitled to have it done. He needs to send kites to medical services and keep doing it until they listen. You can become his power of attorney in Ohio even if he is in the custody of the state and they then have to talk to you.

He can have the replacment done at the correctional medical center in columbus at no cost.

sharon,

please dont rely on them to give you a straight answer because they are ignorant plus they dont want to help him in the first place. i pray his knee gets better and he gets the kind of medical care he needs.
