My boyfriend will come up for review again at the end of 2005, I was wondering is it okay for a girlfriend to request a meeting with the board or a member of the board? I want to do anything I can to help his case...he has been incarcerated 11 years on a 20 year sentence. By the time he is up for review he will have served 13 years. Any advice you can give will be appreciated! Thanks in advance

I was the only person who interviewed on Skip's behalf. Others wrote letters, but I personally talked to 2 board members on phone interviews!

I sent a request to interview with the board. I don't think it matters, they just need to see that someone out here is supporting them. I felt that I should since we are asking the board to let him parole here to Dallas with me.

Thanks everyone for your answers...can anyone tell me who to call to schedule that for future reference? Also, how soon should I try to request the meeting?

You can't call to request it, at least that's what their office told me. You need to send in a written request. The address is:
Lead Voter of Board of Pardon and Paroles
420 S. Main
San Antonio, Texas 78204
I hope this helps.

Oops, sorry, I just read your post again.
Once the file is in review, then you need to send your request. If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will come along and correct me. This is what their office told me.

I made SURE they knew I wanted to talk to them...and you want to make sure they know ENOUGH in advance...so they don't vote it without your input. I put it in writing to the appropriate Board office. I also called the office MANY times to make sure they had info in the file....to the extent, the last time I called, the lady said..."we KNOW Ms. _____, we have your request in file!" LOL (incidentally...it worked!)

I would think just as soon as you know his file has been pulled.
