From PRUP Yahoo Group:
Not exactly user friendly, but it's all we have right now.
Hey All,
My friend & colleague, Michael Cooley of our CUFJ group, researched & created the wonderful attached petition letter to be submitted to CDC to request the reinstatement of Family Visits. It can either be signed by one person, or by multiple people by using the signature form I attached to it. They should be sent to the following address or via fax or email. If you are able, PLEASE make copies & gather signatures when you visit. There is no time limit for them to be submitted (however, CDC has only 30 days to respond), so let's start bombarding CDC with these & show them how serious we are about getting Family Visits back!
If you have questions, please respond to libraleolove@yahoo.com, NOT the address I'm sending from! Thank you.

PETITION FOR CHANGE OF RULES AND/OR REGULATIONS
Pursuant to GC §11340.6, I am formally petitioning for the change described as follows:
Action Requested: Deletion of CCR, Title 15, Division 3, Subchapter 2, Article 7, §3174(e)(2).
Nature of Proposed Action: Delete the entire regulation and re-write the regulation to stipulate that family visits for the described classes of inmates be granted on a case by case basis
Purpose of Amendment: The regulation as currently written serves no reasonable penological interest as described in PC §2600. Further, the regulation punishes several classes of inmates in direct conflict with CDC’s stated recognition of the value of visiting as a method for establishing and maintaining family relationships.
The regulation also stands in conflict with AB 2133 which directs CDC to consider the value of visiting when considering regulations that might impact visiting.
Authority for Change: PC §5058(a)
Requested this day of .
