View Full Version : Lots of movement in Kingman
KingmanQueen 08-01-2009, 11:33 PM I got word that there is alot of movement taking place in the DOC these days. Apparently there were alot of men sent to Oklahoma due to over crowding and the "check" from ADOC bounced and as a result they are sending all the inmates back to Arizona. Apparently ADOC is broke as a joke, which means that our men could stand a good chance of being released sooner since they cant rectify the situation of over crowding...... Lets keep this in prayer
NoahsMama 08-03-2009, 10:56 PM Only one could hope....but I'm not going to get my hopes up on this. Sounds great, but maybe it's as unlikely as the 85% going down to 75%. Ya know?
I guess quite a bit of new inmates arrived at Kingman not too long ago. But with the construction of making the prison larger, they can eventually fit even more. Right?
=(

freddyswoman 09-12-2009, 05:27 PM So will this affect us anytime soon, my guy is in OK, but is going to be moved back to AZ. He is a level 4/4 does anyone have any idea where he might go, and is there a possibility of an early release. At least we could hope.
ENSWHITED 09-14-2009, 09:59 AM why would a 4/4 be out of state:confused: i thought out of state transfers had to be level 1 or 2...

sarah jane 11-16-2009, 06:42 PM Can someone explain levels and phases to me.
NoahsMama 02-05-2010, 03:30 PM I spoke with my husband today. He said about 100 guys have left Kingman so far, and over the next 6 weeks or so, they will continue to move Kingman guys elsewhere as they have been bringing 3s over to the prison from out of state. However, once the new addition prison of Kingman opens soon, the 1s and 2s will move over there and he said some of those Kingman guys that were moved away could come back possibly. So ladies...possibly expect some changes.
My husband probably wont be moved as he was told the outside of prison workers would be last to be moved since the newcomes are 3s and can't fill their positions if they moved since 3s can't work outside the prison anyhow.
Hopefully everyone gets to stay where they're comfortable!!
sarah jane 02-05-2010, 05:46 PM I got a letter from my son and he said the same thing. Some that are moved out will eventually move back. He was doing so well there I really hoped and prayed he would be able to stay. He definitely isn't an agent of change. It's such a sorry mess. He may still be there but I didn't get any letters this week so I'm left wondering. When you say "worked outside" do you mean off the prison sight or outside in the yard? I'm glad to hear your guy will be left there. He doesn't have much time left. An early release, I believe, is a posibility especially for the minimums and certainly if they have served a good portion of their time. My son has only been there 3 months and has a year to go.

Well my husband now is part of a crew which leaves the prison sight and goes to places such as the airport. They are there now, they were working at a middle school(lol). But they work their way up to this. He used to work on the prison's landscaping and such. He enjoys this much, much more as he gets to go out and see the real world. Just a breath of fresh air for the guys I suppose.
Wow your son's time will be done in no time, huh!
And what are ya talkin about early release for minimum?
My husband is min., but he has qualified for different things which allow him out 90 days earlier, etc.
sarah jane 02-06-2010, 11:01 AM I am just speculating with the budget cuts and all that is going on. They have to cut every corner and my personal belief is if there is anyone there with any type of reasoning this would be the path for them to take. I think my reasoning is pretty good if I could only pitch it to the right people. Of course I have already sent it to Brewer but I'm not sure she is the right person at this time. My son is also working on his early release credits. He is in every class he can take and he says he rakes the hell out of the dirt with a rake that has no teeth! I am so glad your husband will be home soon. Your baby is so sweet and so are you.

Well thank you very much :)
JJ's Mommy 02-18-2010, 08:32 AM I called and talked to my husband's case manager and asked her about the movement that is going on. She has been very helpful with letting me know what has been going on with my husband when we really had no contact between us. I was trying to find out if he is going to be moved. Frankly I would love for him to be moved IF and only if he is going to be moved closer so it will be easier to visit him. He has been there a little over a month so he isn't really into a schedule ad he says its hard because the guys he has gotten to know have all been moved out. Well his case manager was very hesitant to talk to me but in the end she said, that he will find out when he is moved so he will be able to let me know, and he will MORE than likely be moved because they have been building on to the prison because the plan is to make it a medium prison only and since he is a minumum he will be moved. He is the fartherest away from me right now. So as long as they keep him in state he will be closer than what he is.
Nadine006 02-18-2010, 03:59 PM Well Im hoping for my husband to get moved to. I do like the kingman system but being i live in tucson its a long drive and hes only in phase 1 so he only gets visits on sunday from 12-4. That makes for a really long day. Plus im only 3 days shy to delivering our son and hope hes gets moved closer so he can visit more.... Fingers crossed.
KingmanQueen 02-21-2010, 01:12 AM My Guy was moved to safford. Do you all know how that prison compares to Kingman?

I know someone who was there. He said it was fine. I also have heard decent things about it. So I think it's a good prison to also be at. Hope your husband can get comfortable and adjusts quickly. My husband told me he now may be moved soon too, so many guys are being moved!

I got a letter from my son and he said I could call central office and they would tell me if he is going to be moved. I have no idea what central office he is talking about. I called Kingman and talked to CO Torres and he said he would probably be moving to the new prison 4/1. We'll see. At this point I think they get so many calls they tell you anything. For security reasons I really don't think they can give that info.

Well if your son is moved to the newer portion of the Kingman facility then luckily for him he's not really 'moving' just changing pods really. My husband did say that most of the guys there are being moved over to the newer buildings.
