I know that I should probably not post this here.

However, after the great beginning of this weekend with all the good news we have received. We have also received some sad news.

Though I am now retired from the military, many of my Brothers and Sisters in Arms are still on Active Duty. Many of us in PTO have loved ones serving overseas in Iraq and elsewhere.

This morning it was announced on the news that we now have Five Hundred casualties in Iraq, since the first day of the war.

I want to repost something that I published for Veteran's Day. Something that still brings tears to my eyes when I think of those brave men and women. Men and women whom I knew that are no longer with us and the five hundred who have gone home to God from Iraq.

Tom,

This is for you, Hon, you died so long ago in Tampa Bay doing what you loved with the Coast Guard. I still love you and always will, please greet these brave men and women when they come home to Heaven. I will see you someday.

This is for you sweetheart and them:

A Parent's Memories

Veteran's Day dawned bright with promise.

A parents joy - son or daughter - childhood laughter abounds.

Morning light shines on childhood memories, a baby's first steps, first bike ride, first day at school.

The midday sun shines brightly on a daughter's first date and a son's first car.

The afternoon sun shines brightly on a Service Member's first day home from Boot Camp, so young, and so proud of their uniform.

Veteran's Day, the twilight sun sets to the mournful notes of Taps and a parent's tears.

Leaving only bittersweet memories and Pride.

A Father, Son, Brother, a Mother, Daughter, Sister, an American Soldier, Sailor, Airman, or Coast Guardsman, an American Hero who gave their life for our country - for us.

I dedicate this to the memory of all American Service Members, 1775 to 2004.

May God hold you and yours in eternal peace.
