I know that it takes a few days or up to 3 weeks or so to get approved for phone lists but what about mail? My boyfriend was just transfered to Beaumont Medium last Tuesday and I mailed him letters Wednesday and Friday. Will he be able to get them or will they send them back? His brother is in his i guess "block" so Patrick has gotten to talk to his aunt (with prior approval i guess) because his aunt's approved for his brother and said they were mailing out my visitation approval Friday or Monday so hopefully I will get that sent back by the end of the week. How long does it take to get approved and what sort of information do they need? Copies of anything like DL' or SS? Any info you can possibly help me with would be appreciated.

You dont need to be approved for mail. I live in East Tx about 3-4hrs north of Beaumont. It takes hubby about 3-4days to get my mail. Although there is the rare times when he has gotten it in 2 days.

Thanks for the info! I am glad they aren't going to be sent back or anything I want him to know im thinking about him. His aunt who just happens to be my next door neighbor went and picked up his things from County on Friday and I got all my letters back, which he eventually wants mailed to him down in Beaumont....wow 27 letters + I'm waiting on 1 to be returned I mailed out last monday (he left Tuesday) all in less than 2 months...I think I wrote alot..wouldn't you say? hehe:)

I believe they are only allowed to keep so man letters at a time.Im not sure about the amount. Last time they were on lockdown, most of hubbys stuff got thrown out. From what I understand they only have a small amount of space to keep their stuff.
If it were me I wouldnt send all the letters to him. Melissa

no 27 letters while he was in county...from May 13th to July 7th, I just got his last letter returned since he wasnt there...now what the heck a m I going to do with a Money Order made out to him??? ugh!

You can still send him a money order it will just take longer to post to his account than western union.

You can cash the m.o and get another or use the money to send it western union. Last time I sent WU it was 5.95 in person, and 3.95 online.

Thanks ladies! Tonight Patrick called, his brother put me on his approved list so he could call me with his card. Awesome right? And its all legit which makes it even better! He said he got my two letters I had sent already on Monday and he sent me one so hopefully I will get it tomorrow. He knows how broke I went with GTL calls in county but said he did ask me in his letter for some money which I know he needs some I'm just broke till Friday. His aunt is supposed to be getting him some money to so hopefully i can put money on his books this weekend! yay! I'm just so glad he called...the phone had really good reception untuil about 5 minutes into the call all the background noise dropped and then it was like he was in a deep dark tunnel and i could barely hear him! but either way it was sooo good to hear his voice!

I just wanted to add that I mailed DH a letter yesterday. He got it today. I thought that was really weird that he got it so fast. I guess the CO didnt feel like reading last night/early this morning. So yeah, they can get letters the next day, depending on where its being mailed from. But I wouldnt always count on it.

Who is your husband's counselor? Patrick's is missing his counselor's first name on the vistor list so i have to send with mr or mrs...so and so. I'm also attaching a note b/c my DL has a different address then where I live and what Patrick probably put down for my address Do you think that matters? If anything I can change my DL' address online I believe. Or does it matter my hair is brown and it's blonde on my DL?

I think it does matter with the DL addy. Some times COs will let it pass sometimes they dont. I would wait until I talk to him again, and see which addy he put down, before I put an addy. If he put down the same one thats on your DL then I would use the one thats on your DL. It can take up to 6wks for Austin to send you a new DL. Unless you can go to Austin and get it the same day. If your not planning on visiting for a month or so, and plan on getting a new DL then yes put down your new addy. Some of the ppl at Medium are simple minded, so you dont want to confuse them too much LMAO. Melissa

change your address online!!! It's ten bucks and will save you a headache when it comes to visitation! ... as far as blonde/brown - they know people change their hair color...now if your dl says you're 5'2 and you come in at 5'10.... welll then.... lol
