Three inmates stabbed at prison

September 9, 2002, 10:56 PM EDT

DANNEMORA, N.Y. -- Three inmates were stabbed in a fight at Clinton Correctional Facility on Monday, according to prison officials.

Superintendent Daniel Senkowski said the fight in a prison yard at about 3:30 p.m. was quickly broken up by guards, and the injuries did not appear serious. Stabbed were Jeffrey Ramirez, 23, Rodney Vans, 33, and Timothy Grant, 40. Vans is serving a sentence for manslaughter, Grant for attempted murder and Ramirez for robbery, according to authorities.

All three were treated at the prison, with Vans and Ramirez transferred to CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, Senkowski said. Vans and Ramirez have been at the facility less than five days, which may have had something to do with the fight, he told the Press-Republican in Plattsburgh.

Dannemora is 142 miles north of Albany.

Reminds me of when they use to try & put Northern Chicanos on a yard with Southern Chicanos. These guys would be lucky to last 5 days.-------Ken

Veronica, I guess they want to thin out the opposition. On the outside, now, it seems really senseless to me, but while I was locked up, I completey understood what they were doing, & was cool with it. I guess it boils down to perspective. When I hear about prisoners getting stabbed or attacked I don't really think about them or their families, being on this site has given me that insight. I'm still pretty callouse when it comes to attacks in prison, but I am getting better at having some sympathy for the victims, or at least for what their families are going through------Ken
